We had the good fortune of connecting with Shellie Slack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shellie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I really don’t subscribe to using the word risk. For me, my journey has been a walk by faith and not by sight journey. Following my internal navigation in life has brought so much joy and fulfillment. I was only able to develop this spiritual sense of navigation through building my own personal authentic relationship with God. When I look back over my life and the decisions I’ve made, I can attest that the times I’ve prospered the most were the times I sought God first in my decision making and included him in every step of the plan, by being still, praying, and following that unction in my spirit. As many may know, with successes come lessons learned. What I’ve learned about making faith moves is that, you have to put your trust in God and know that whatever the outcome will be, it will always work in your favor.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have a coaching business that serves teen girls and young adult women between the ages 19- 35. The name of my business is B.E.-Transformation; the acronym B.E stands for Butterfly Enterprises. I offer services that range from One-on-One coaching, Group Coaching and workshops. I also provide fundraising and partnerships for businesses that service our youth and young adults. I periodically host a virtual book club that’s an open discussion for my first book, The Life of a Butterfly; a self-help book for teen girls and women of all ages. Building my coaching business’s foundation might have been the most challenging along with understanding my brand. I recognized clearly that as I evolved my business changed as well. I am a visionary and creator which my business has many legs that encompass all of who I am. My brand is me and I am my brand. What’s important to me right now is communicating to my audience who I am ( My brand ), what I offer so that I will be able to serve and connect to those individuals that will benefit from my services.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend out for a bike ride at the beach, I enjoy the water along with sight seeing. I would have to take my best friend to Tantulum out in Long beach for drinks, food, music and beautiful scenery. I am not into the clubs however we would definitely enjoy listening to some live Jazz music and wine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my Pastor, Pastor Carole Houston of Bethel Unspeakable Joy church and everyone else who has played an instrumental role in my spiritual growth. I would not be the person I am today without a little spiritual guidance along the way. Pastor Carole cultivated in me a hunger to seek God for myself. It wasn’t until i knew who He is, that I had an understanding of who I am. We are all creative and resourceful beings. It’s about tapping into that higher power, that power that flows within.
