What is the Most Important Thing You’ve Done as a Parent?

Parenting is an incredibly important responsibility and so we wanted to get a conversation going with input from parents in the community. We asked them: what is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent? We’ve highlighted some of the responses below.

My eight-year-old son is growing up watching something I never saw modeled at his age—that you can pursue your dreams at any stage in life, even when the odds feel stacked against you. As a parent, one of the most important things that I try to do daily is to model the characteristics and qualities that I hope they will learn to value as individuals. It’s so easy as a parent to get caught up in the trap of “because I said so” while simultaneously modeling behaviors that are the opposite of how we expect them to behave.
