NASARIMBA Rachel Ziriada and Mikhail Miller | Visual Artists

Our collaboration as artists is the most important factor behind the success of our collective, NASARIMBA. We are able to combine our individual strengths and skill sets towards completing large scale projects. Collaboration allows us to share the workload, to bounce ideas between each other, and to keep each other motivated and accountable. Working together gives us the versatility to accomplish the diverse activities involved in our practice such as writing applications for festivals and grants, installing street art and public murals, printing wearable goods sold at markets and producing art in our home studio. Authenticity, vulnerability, and being bold. Richard Welch | Founder and CEO

I believe deeply that the continuing success of Utu is based upon our clear unwavering commitment to our core values and beliefs. Many brands all too easily shift their perspective or value system based upon pressure from external factors. For example, when we were developing our plastic-free packaging so many suppliers and even potential retailers were keen to tell us that plastic remains the best material, that people don’t really care about plastic pollution or that using non-plastic materials to create premium packaging would result in profit margins that would make it impossible to succeed. We remained focused on our vision and although the journey was long and complex we can proudly say that we have achieved plastic free packaging that is premium, beautiful and admired by retailers, customers and suppliers alike. i guess the message is stay committed to your vision and have persistence, it will ultimately pay off. Nancy Boyd | Filmmaker

The most important factor behind any of my successes is kindness. I wouldn’t be anywhere if I didn’t treat people I met with kindness. In the film industry, our collaborators are people we spend many, many hours with. I wouldn’t want to spend that time with someone who didn’t treat me with kindness and respect and I want to give the same to everyone I meet. As simple as it sounds, tensions can run high and we can forget to be kind. I think that my ability to keep kind and compassionate under stress is what places the opportunities before me.
