We had the good fortune of connecting with Skye Delamey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Skye, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
A feeling of accomplishment, knowing I am living my soul’s purpose and contributing my best to the world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is music and music performance and it is what I have done for most all my life since I childhood. It’s the core of who I am. I am excited to continuously share my music with the world. I am always excited about the next show, next project, merchandise, next music video, or album. It is what fuels me. It also inspires me to always stay on my A game. Getting enough rest, exercising daily, eating a healthy raw based diet, meditating, and doing skin facials…these are aspects of my life that help me stay on my A game. Regarding challenges: Music industry has so greatly changed in the last 2 decades, that it’s important to me to be current and up to date. I am grateful to be experiencing some benefits of the new music industry now, instead of worrying about why it is so different than it was before. I am so grateful there is still a music industry and ways artists can make a living. What I would want the world to know about my brand and story is: Stay true to your vision. Honor and cherish any gifts god game you, or what god “built” you for. Embrace that, feel responsible to proceed with your goals. For as long as your heart is beating, you must do what you came to this earth for. These words are actually the inspiration behind recent release, “Party Stoppers Suck.” It’s a song about living your dreams and the life you came here for, and not letting anyone or thing rain on your parade or deter you from your soul’s purpose. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles, City of Angels: A trip in Los Angeles should begin at the beach towns…Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Marina Del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica, and the Malibu. Get your fill of the fresh sea air. Eat at Paradise Cove in Malibu. On another trip of the coast, have brunch or sunset happy hour at Inn of the 7th Ray in Topanga Canyon. Los Angeles beach towns are truly one of a kind. Each entails shops, cafes, restaurants, and it’s own unique community and flair. Check out Malibu pier, world famous Santa Monica pier, and revel in the beauty where the surf and sand collide. On day 2 of your trip, go a different route and explore the exciting cities Los Angeles has to offer….work your way up, starting with Farmer Market/The Grove at 3rd street and Fairfax. Eat and shop and this historic L.A. landmark. Near by, get you fill of Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, and Beverly drive. Check out Rodeo two as well! Drive up pas the palm trees into the world famous Sunset Strip. Check out West Hollywood’s Rainbow, Whisky, Mel’s Diner, Pink Taco, as you head from there into Hollywood proper. Revel in the sights and sounds of Hollywood…the capitol records building, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Walk of Fame, and Mann’s Chinese Theater. Explore Hollywood and Highland. Further east from Hollywood, check out the artsy neighborhoods of Los Feliz. Make sure to have drinks and or dinner at the Dresden! Be sure to check out skyestours.org for more tips!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A shoutout to my supportive family, wonderful music producers, trainers, teacher and mentors. I have been blessed with very in depth teachers that taught me music, performance, movement, acting, voice. Vocal training instructors, and very meticulous performance instructors truly influenced me. Many were not happy with just good enough, they pushed excellence.
