We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanette Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeanette, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I am at my happiest when I’m in the moment, it’s when I’m truly present to all the beauty, laughter, and family/friends that surround me. I am happy when I am doing something meaningful, fulfilling my purpose, pursuing my dreams, and yet it is also when I’m sitting on the beach, listening to the waves and feeling the sun on my face. We have the choice to be happy moment by moment. I believe true joy comes from within, not from our external circumstances. Sometimes it takes us awhile to realize it but when we embrace that we are the only ones responsible for our own happiness/joy, we tend to start listening to our heart and soul for guidance, love and appreciation of all. I start my days with a gratitude journal and I make a conscious choice to live focusing on the good in my life. Yes, there are days that it may not be as easy and I have my bad moments but I allow myself time to be honest and to be with what stinks, and then look for the opportunity that every situation brings. Happiness is a state of mind, and I choose HAPPY. 🙂

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself a body artist. I work with my clients to help create the body image that they desire yet also help them develop their fitness in mind and soul. I am most proud of my trademark method, Bootoga®, an Online Wellness Academy (fusion of bootcamp, yoga and meditation) which helps guides people to be fit in mindset, fit in the body, and fit in the soul/spirit. I was a gym owner for over 10+ years and been in fitness industry for over 25 years, and I noticed that my clients were in search of more; not just the body of their dreams, but in search of finding more peace, wanting to learn more on mindset, and figuring out what makes them feel fulfilled and meaningful. So I designed to program to address all those areas. It was challenging and I am grateful for my great mentors that guided me throughout my journey of acquiring my trademark, developing my program and getting it out there. What I didn’t realize was that it was also a healing program for people. My own clients were changing, I traveled to Belize, Nicaragua and other countries and taught my method to new people and the responses were beyond what I had imagined. I believe that when we have a dream we hope and know that it will be good but we self doubt and get scared and don’t finish it. We have no idea how the world (people) will react to it and it then it evolves into something more than you ever imagined. That is the true beauty of being a creative; what you created evolves and grows into something bigger than yourself and this is what creating Bootoga® has done for me. I want Bootoga to be known as a health & wellness program that helped to transform lives in mind, body and soul I would encourage you to continue to be creative and finish your project, whatever it may be, to completion. Enjoy the lessons along the way and stand back to take in the beauty it created in others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to love and see in LA… I would definitely give my friends a drive down PCH to take in all the beauty of our beaches, starting in Malibu and work our way down the coast to Santa Monica, Hermosa, Redondo and stop at some amazing shops and restaurants along the way. We would make sure to sit on the beach and watch the sunset with a great bottle of Paso Robles wine to set off the evening. There is so much nightlife in LA, depending on our our vibe we would hit some chill & quirky lounges with great food or hit Hollywood for evening of dancing the night away. Good times, good vibes, and great company make any outing a day for the books.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
HUGE shoutout to My parents… they have been my biggest fans throughout my life and my biggest supporters in all that I do. Their love, encouragement, and their listening has boosted me all my life. Also, my dearest friends, my tribe! I have a handful of best gals and they have encouraged me, celebrated with me, and lifted me back up throughout the journey of my business career and more. And to all my co-authors of The Little Black Book of Fitness…. you are all the reason why it hit #1!
