We had the good fortune of connecting with Saif Rehman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saif, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk equals reward. I believe there is a risk involved with anything and everything that we want out of life. Some risks are more volatile than others, but those are always the ones that offer the possibility of a more valuable reward. There’s always a lot of ups and downs that come with each risk, but if you stay focused on the bigger picture you’ll see there are way more ups than downs. At the end of the day I can only speak for myself, but I truly believe the universe will reward you for the risks you take. I moved across the country to chase a dream, there was a lot of fear and doubt that traveled with me, but 3yrs later and I can confidently tell you that risk changed my life for the better. We all hear the success stories, watch the movies, and everyone says the same thing, they all took risks to get to where they are. So I’m like why not take the risk and get a chance at a slice of the pie, id be punishing myself if I didn’t try.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create surreal photography pieces, essentially I take different photos and composite them into one piece. I enjoy the idea of creating your own reality in an image and pushing the boundaries of photography. That idea is what made me start experimenting with different ways I can edit my images. I was personally transitioning out of a dark time in my life during all of this and I remember I ended up taking a portrait of myself and replaced my head with a ton smoke. I had my own personal representations of what that image meant to me during the time, but the feedback that I got from that image made me dive deeper into how else I could manipulate photos for others. There was a lot of bullshit that I had to go through but that’s what brought about the idea for that first image that made it all click, I believe pain can bring some of the best out of people honestly, as oddly as that may sound. My main mission with this is to be able to help others express themselves and their ideas through photography art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely have to hit the beach, but during the week on an early morning. Its so peaceful out there in the morning when there’s not much traffic. I like to go out there and edit sometimes, nature can set a vibe for you if you allow it. Have to take them to the studio too, I enjoy bringing my friends into my creative space and seeing what it brings out of them. It doesn’t take much for me to have a good time, so just having each others company with good conversation is more valuable to me than any activity we could get into. Theres a lot of food spots we’ll end up going to, good food is always mandatory. One of the spots that is a must would be Comfort LA, they have some of the best soul food that I’ve had in LA. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My words will fail me when I try to explain how amazing the people in my corner are. I have an incredible family that built me into who I am today, and some amazing friends in my corner that have inspired and motivated me to get where I am and also where Im wanting to go. I have an amazing woman in my corner that has propelled me to heights unimaginable and is going to get the world in a gift box one day, I am truly blessed to have the people that I have in my corner. 100% I would not be where I am today without them.
