We had the good fortune of connecting with Brienne Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brienne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have over a decade background in behavior analysis so I observe people like it’s second nature. I’m fascinated with behavior, specifically, how it shapes our beliefs and forms our habits. I saw a need for connection. I was surrounded by people who were hurting. Humans who were seeking relief from stress and overwhelm; people who struggled with health issues; others who desired mental and/or emotional freedom, and so my mission became to create a way for more humans to access psychosomatic healing. I saw a need for simple and integrative daily mental-emotional practices. So here we are, almost five years into business, and just over the past year, I finally feel aligned with my vision (thank you, 2020). I have combined my inner science-nerd with trauma-informed psychosomatic (mind + body) healing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love that I’ve found a way to use my expertise and my personal pain to help others. I love that it’s grown into a supportive, loving community of warriors. I created what I was searching for when I was lost or when I struggling with health issues and avoiding my emotions. The tools and resources that I share within my practice are ones that have personally helped me in my own healing journey — physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. I love guiding my clients on an internal journey of self-discovery. When we understand the root cause of why we believe or react a certain way or why we habitually do something, we can then release the guilt/pain/shame/doubt/fear and move on. This inner-healing allows us to show up more confidently and true to who we are/want to be.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love being outside hiking in the sunshine! My favorite spots around PHX are the Phoenix Mountain Preserve trails and the Superstition Mountains. Hands down the best dirty chai latte is at Maverick Coffee on Scottsdale Rd. Tocaya Organica Mexican GF/Vegan-friendly The Valley Bar PHX for intimate music shows. Sedona is always a magical time – hiking in the red rocks, exploring the lesser-known trails, drinking/eating at ChocolaTree, car camping on the backroads Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero – changed my life perspective May 2016 when I was stuck in bed after a life-altering auto accident. It Didn’t Start With You by Mark Wolynn – This book brought emotional and mental healing. In this book, Wolynn covers the effects of generational trauma and how many generations it can span. Having the scientific studies to back up some of my emotional experiences gave me relief and I found forgiveness for family members I was unconsciously blaming. Thank you to Denise and Ann, my first mentor and magical guide. And thank you to, Eva, my kindred friend. I’m so grateful to all of my teachers and mentors throughout my journey.
