We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Richards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blake, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe what the most important factor behind our success is being one of the first ones to do it, keep doing it, and then stay ahead of the competition by outperforming yourself every time you make another video.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born and raised in Studio City, California and I have always been drawn to Hollywood. Videography was a hobby of mine my entire life. Every year I found that the camera equipment was only getting better and more affordable. The editing software was just getting easier and more fun to learn. Also newer technology was appearing that would change the videography business forever. In 2013 I bought my first Drone and I really never thought I was going to take this hobby and turn it into the company that is now Tri-Blend Media Productions. Making a video is a form of art. You are in complete control of how each and every shot should look. Every movement and camera angle matters. You then need to edit those shots in a way that tells a story. We do all of this in a very unique way and it gives the viewer a sense of the layout of the home. All the different tricks and style of shooting keeps their attention all the way till the end of the video. There is also no other company with 200,000 Subscribers on YouTube and a total of 55million views. The agent sees huge value in view counts and we can guarantee them tons of views per video. We have one video that just past 15 million views and the rest of the videos are not far behind. In order for most realtors to achieve this many views it would cost them tons of marketing dollars and that just doesn’t fit the budget so this is a win win. They get a killer video and it comes with views that they would never get on their own channels!!! We also have 32.7k followers on Instagram so these videos now come with a ton of marketing. I have always loved making home videos and school video projects. I found myself always buying the next camera and the gear just got better and better. It is when I bought my first Drone my videos really started to take a turn. My first opportunity was at a 25 million dollar Beverly Hills home. I was hired to shoot an aerial photo of the house and I stuck around for a few more hours shooting a video. The homeowner and photographer thought I was crazy for shooting a video of a home, but no-one ever realized how much a house offers in the video world. What I wanted to capture was all the moving parts. I saw the fountains, waterfalls, fire-pits, wind in the trees, birds chirping, twinkling city lights in the view, and windows going up with a push of a button. This place needed a video and that is when I decided to make 3-5 minute hollywood style teaser for this beverly hills home. The homeowner was blown away and we posted it on Youtube. Sure enough it went viral and the home sold. Every home after that had more to offer and each video was different than the last. Things really started to blow up when I shot a 250 million dollar Mansion and at the time it was the most expensive home in the nation. So things started to move really fast. It has been 8 years since Tri-Blend Started making real estate videos and I still can not believe how far it has come. I have now shot over 5 billion dollars worth of luxury real estate. Most of the homes we shoot average around 50-75 million dollars and we have a few that are well over 200 million dollar Mansions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA can’t be seen in a week so lets just point out my favorites: The beaches in Malibu, The hikes in Westlake Village, snowboarding in Mammoth. fishing from our lakes to the oceans, and maybe just maybe I would take them to Disneyland. Not without my kids and wife though. They love it more than I do. The rest of the touristy spots I would let the next friend show them that part. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to my family for always pushing me and encouraging me to take those risks. Doubt is the worse thing when starting a business and this is where my family helped me believe in my business model. It was so nice to have them by my side through this process and now it makes it even more fun to look back at where it all started.
