We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Rinaldi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
My determination and drive to succeed at all costs. When I first got into fashion photography I was willing to arrive at the shows 4 or 5 hours before they began and stand front row center without moving. This enabled me to get the best angles and the best shots possible. You have to be willing to sacrifice certain things to get the job done on time. I would always go home upload my photos and start editing right away sometimes staying up till 5 or 6 AM even if I had another show the next day simply because I wanted to have the first completed images thus giving me a better chance at maximizing my exposure.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a photographer I have a unique position to create almost anything I want from an image. With so many different editing tools it really is left to the creative mind behind the lens to figure out what direction to take an image. My style would definitely be a cross between artistic and realistic creating a visually spectacular and dynamic image with high contrast and deep composition.

To date my most proud moments are receiving a publication in the December 2020 issue of British Vogue magazine with model Lily spinner and designer Hannah Kristina and when I received the “detail photographer of the year” award from OC fashion week in 2020.

Like most my photography career started out with a curiosity of capturing a moment in time and preserving them forever. It was not easy to go from a relatively unknown photographer in the fashion world to someone who shoots OC, SD, LA and NY fashion weeks. It took a lot of dedication and a lot of pounding the pavement I did a lot of collaborative shoots with different designers and different models, constantly tweaking and perfect in my style until I found what worked just right for me.

One piece of advice I have for any photographer in any of the different styles is to just pound the pavement. You have to put in the effort, put in the work don’t be afraid to do collaborative shoots if the situation is right. You never know when your next big break is just around the corner so be open to everything!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My first stop we definitely have to be Huntington Beach (surf city USA). Main Street is such an amazing collection of businesses and people it is a must see for the orange county area plus who doesn’t love a stroll down the pier at sunset? For drinks I would take them to the packing district and more specifically “the blind rabbit” speakeasy which serves some amazing libations. After that we would definitely spend some time at the downtown Disney District enjoying all the food, cocktails and stores they have, Plus the Disney atmosphere is intoxicating and uplifting. From there it would be a myriad of different sites in Los Angeles. The last bookstore Grohmans theater, pinks hotdogs, Venice beach and the Walt Disney concert hall to name a few places. To finish it off we would have to get Japanese barbecue at Gyu Kaku in Huntington Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A big shout out hast to go to Kathy Marino the president and CEO of orange county fashion week. When I first started getting into fashion photography she gave me a chance to come photograph for her illustrious event. This gave me access to a myriad of amazing designers and models as well as locations and connections. The time I have spent with orange county fashion week has been invaluable to the success of my business and I thank Kathy and @OCFW very much for that.
