Meet Misa Bear | Gaming Content Creator & Voice Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Misa Bear and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Misa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the biggest reason behind my success is that I never limited myself to doing one thing.
When I first started making content, I got a lot of hate for my voice. People told me to make it deeper, act differently, and stop being so girly. For a while I actually tried to change myself because I thought it would make people like me more.
Eventually I realized that the things people were making fun of were the same things that made me stand out.
Instead of hiding my voice, I leaned into it. That led me into ASMR and voice acting, and I started creating content in a way that felt natural to me. Over time, my community grew around a lot of little things that became part of who I am as a creator, whether it’s my SpongeBob-like laugh, saying “TYPE SNIFF,” rubbing my nose celebration after a win, or calling my community the Sniffers.
I also don’t like putting myself in one box. I love ASMR, but I also love gaming and basketball, so I’ve always tried to bring all of those parts of myself into my content.
At the end of the day, I think people connect with creators who are genuinely themselves. Trends come and go, but people remember the things that make you different.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I create content across gaming, livestreaming, ASMR, and voice acting. Something that sets me apart is that I’ve never really fit perfectly into one category because I love making people laugh, entertaining people through games, NBA and voice acting.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was learning how to be comfortable with myself. A lot of people criticized my voice when I first started creating content. Because of that, I spent a long time trying to change the way I spoke and the way I presented myself online. I thought that if I changed enough, people would eventually stop judging me.
That never really happened.
Over time, I realized that the things people were criticizing were also the things that made me different. Instead of trying to hide my voice, I started leaning into it. That decision ended up leading me into ASMR and voice acting, and it helped me build a community of people who appreciated me for who I actually was.
One lesson I’ve learned is that trying to fit in all the time can hold you back because the internet is full of people trying to do the same things, being yourself is usually the thing that makes people remember you. A lot of the qualities I was insecure about ended up becoming some of my biggest strengths.
If there’s one thing I’d want people to know about me, it’s that success doesn’t always come from being the most talented person in the room. Sometimes it comes from being willing to be yourself when everyone is telling you to be someone else.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Picking a place to eat would probably take half the trip. I’m Saturnese, so we tend to be very picky.
Basketball would definitely be part of it though. I’ve been trying to learn how to shoot threes like my NBA goat Steph Curry, so there’s a good chance I’d drag them to a basketball court and make them practice with me.
Most of the week would honestly just be food, ball, and laughing about random things. Some of my favorite memories are usually the simple ones.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I look back, I think support is one of the most important things a person can have. Creating content can be really challenging, especially when you’re dealing with criticism or self-doubt. There have definitely been times where I felt like giving up.
I’ve never really had a lot of people around me who fully understood what I was trying to do, which made some parts of the journey feel lonely but I have been fortunate enough to have a few close friends who believed in me during difficult moments and encouraged me to keep going when I was struggling.
I think having a good support system is something people often underestimate. Sometimes all it takes is for one person to remind you not to quit on a bad day and those moments can make a bigger difference than people realize.
