We had the good fortune of connecting with Artheena Regaldo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Artheena, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Heart of Milele, which means infinite heart in Swahili, emerged at one of the saddest and most devastating times in my life. I was diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune condition and was scheduled for a really serious surgery where I was having my chest cut open. And at that time I was forced to realize my own mortality in a very short amount of time. It was very overwhelming and my priority was to make sure that my daughters somehow had access to me even if I didn’t survive in physical form. The solution was to pour my love out to them through my actions. Actions of self preservation, gentleness, showing them warmth and resilience and acceptance too. I wanted them to think of me and be reminded not to be afraid to love and live their truth.
I wanted my kids to be able to feel my love and be guided by it because one day they will have to navigate life without me. Thankfully that time has not come. But this commitment to love and truth revolutionized my life, so creating a brand with this foundation was an automatic “YES” for me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Ok, great question. Thanks for asking.
I created a brand that focuses on developing emotional intelligence and promotes sexual and non-sexual intimacy through herbal products, movement, education, crystal therapy, retreats, and personal coaching. My specialty is in working with the pelvic floor of men and women using TCM and Ayurvedic practices to heal internally and outwardly too. I really just want to create safe space for people who feel disconnected from themselves and overwhelmed by their trauma so that they can peel back the layers to reconnect to their divine selves and live pleasure based lifestyles. I have a knack for curating shamanic atmospheres to assist this too. Life moves so fast that we overlook the small things that could potentially make us smile inside. And we also overlook the things that are preventing us from achieving that as well. Heart of Milele debunks the idea that you can’t speak your whole truth, live your best life, and also experience intimacy with yourself and those around you. Most times we just need the self awareness to identify these things.
Now I have to mention that my work is rooted in sacred sexuality, which for me means divine creation. By exploring this, I help guide men and women on journey of discovering who they are and how to show up in the world as such. Of course there are others way of doing this, and I believe the different modalities are very complimentary. However, in my experience when we connect to what feels good to our highest purpose we find a sweet spot that allows use to achieve our desires.
Spirituality and herbalism are trending at the moment and I’m glad that this knowledge is becoming common. At first I was really reluctant to share my healing and evolution because it’s so precious to me. However what I’m learning is that the more vulnerable I am and the more I share about the tools and practices I use to move through life’s challenges and pleasures, the more people Heart of Milele can reach and assist in their healing as well.
Being vulnerable is not easy for me believe it or not. I’m really reserved by nature and even shy at times. In my softness I am able to express myself more authentically which allows me to be received with more trust and understanding. You can imagine how important it is that a client can trust me in this field of work.
If there’s anything I’ve learned thus far it’s that healing isn’t linear and neither is being an entrepreneur. That means sometimes you’re up, down, or even taking a lose. The key is to learn every time, remember that you’re human, and give yourself grace. For me, that eliminates the idea of having to “start over” when I drop the ball. Instead I tell myself that I’m just continuing because it’s all a part of the process.
Perspective is everything.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Bali!
If my bestfriend said we were taking a week long trip, we’re headed straight to Bali. I’ve been there three times with Priestess School, twice to host a retreat. We’d stay in Ubud with Ray at the Muka, we’re gonna visit the jungle in the North and have Made (Mah-dey) take us to the waterfall, we’re gonna go get attacked by monkeys in Monkey Forest, go for prayer with the High Priestess, swim naked in the ocean and eat the best vegan food and freshest fruits from the tress.
Can you tell I love it there?!
Bali is just a beautiful place. The people are so lovable and kind. It’s a great place to relax and center yourself. The shopping is amazing and very affordable and if I know my best friend….there’s a few places to get loose too, if ya know what I mean.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, my friends have really been holding me accountable to my growth but also allowing space to experience the pains that come along with it too. Heart of Milele would be nothing without them calling to ask me to make them personalized concoctions, which usually leads to a new product that they rep and promo like crazy. I love my boss besties and they know who they are.
But I really have to shout out Sofia Sundari for creating Priestess School, which is where my healing journey and true purpose in life started to unfold. The school and her teachings created a safe space for me to explore who I really am, and to acknowledge emotions and ideas that perpetuated my less than pleasurable lifestyle. Priestess School validated so much for me and is also the first platform that allowed me share my gifts openly, increasing my reach to thousands of people all over the world.
I’m forever grateful for Sofia and the allies that I found studying and facilitating with her.
