We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alisha, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. I grew up in a household with several amazing siblings and my two loving parents! We did not have a lot of material things or money coming up, but I would never trade my upbringing for anything! My parents gave us so much love and knowledge. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and my siblings and I started working at a very young age!!! Watching them definitely played a major part in my being an entrepreneur today. My business name, Body And Mind Soulutions (BAMS) was created after one of their businesses, Black Arts Music Society AKA BAMS! They were the best role models.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When the pandemic started back in March of 2020, my Massage Therapy practice was completely shut down. My chair massage and relaxation practice was going strong and in January 2020, I opened a sports recovery lounge in the city of Carson. All of my business activities and scheduled events were immediately canceled due to COVID-19 and the shut down. I was determined to stay positive and connected with my clients and business partners. With that being said, I created my vegan self-care product line, BAMS Therapeutic in May of 2020! I immediately mailed free self-care boxes to clients, friends and family members and my website went live shortly after. I’m so proud of myself for moving forward with this idea and more people are finding out about BAMS Therapeutic. It wasn’t the easiest task to get done but I did it. I’ve taken classes and continue to educate myself in the field of aromatherapy and formulating. As of now, Massage Therapy offices are allowed to operate again and I plan to reopen this summer. I’ve partnered with Salute To The Power (STTP) and will be providing Sports Massage & Recovery for their fitness clients. I’m currently referring my clients there for sauna sessions, swimming pool access and BEMER Therapy. Body And Mind Soulutions stands out from most because we are able to offer the complete package with our high level of professionalism, our vegan products, additional services offered and team of professionals that we work it. We are becoming a one stop shop for all of your wellness needs!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, I love this question! Their first stop should be at Stuff I Eat in Inglewood for some bomb, healthy vegan eats and they have to try the organic beet lemonade! Simply Wholesome, Earle’s On Crenshaw, Azla Ethiopian and Cafe Organix in the IE are on the list as well. For all of their fresh juice needs and books, pull up to Juice-C-Juice in Carson. There’s also JuiceBae LA for healthy vegan grab and go meals. Coffee and chill vibes means stopping by Cafe Ruisseau (both locations) and Harun coffee in Lemeirt Park. Get some self-care in with Erica at Derm7 (skin care) on the Westside, pull up to Salute To The Power in Bellflower for a workout and sauna session, bike riding in Marina Del Rey is a must and lastly, book some massages with one of my Massage Therapists at Body And Mind Soulutions! All of these businesses are great places with good vibes where you can meet some great people.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have to thank the man in my life, he’s been super supportive from day one. My immediate family and friends are always. very encouraging as well. Lastly, I have to thank Ms. Linda Smith, creator of The Anointed Touch Rejuvenation Wellness Network. She’s provided so many opportunities, she shares so much business knowledge and she continues to give her time whenever I call! I’m grateful for all of the love and support I continue to receive.
