We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Igne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my why factor. When I started my business, I had no other options. I literally had no other choice to make this business work, or I was going to lose it all. My business not only helped me get back on my feet, keep my home and get back to work, but it made me realize what I am fully capable of accomplishing with just some hard work and dedication. At this point my dreams and goals have exceeded way beyond, just a side hustle. Working in the social services field for the past 13 years there are things I have never and will never accomplish if I continue working for someone else. I yearn for for creating my own endless opportunities, creating a brand of myself, financial freedom, providing a platform for my future and most importantly being able to motivate and inspire others. This is WHY success is imperative for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aside from my baking business, I am also a Registered Behvaior Techinician and Certified tax preparer. I’ve worked in the education and social services field for the past 13 years. I took a break midway, moved to Seattle Washington and started my own marketing and sales business. I’m a people person so I have always excelled in that field. However ownership was a new venture for me and while that was short lived, I definitely got a crash course on what to do and not to do as a business owner. I’ve worked with disabled children and families, focusing on behaviors and individualized goals ever since. If anyone is familiar with the field tho, its definitely a career based on passion and not pay. Now during this pandemic this will be the 4th time that I have been laid off in this field. While I love the work that I do, and being able to help change the lives of others, it is more clear now than ever, that I need to focus on creating my own success and opportunities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
After this whole quarantine, this might have to be my itinerary for a whole week! For starters the beach is a must. Wed drive up the coast of PCH one day to Malibu and have a day hanging out at Paradise Cove, maybe have some Dukes on the way home. For tourists purposes I’d take them to Venice beach just to see all the culture and shops but then head over to Hermosa beach to lay out and grab some Happy Hour at Sharkeez. Another day wed take a stroll to Hollywood Blvd, do some site seeing, visit shops and museums. Have lunch at Cabo Cantina, make sure we sit by the patio so we can people watch. Maybe end the day playing some games at Dave and Busters. Depending on season, I’d say catch a Dodger game, or check out the Staples Center. Rest of week would be filled with popular hikes (runyon), museums, Ventura Blvd, Burbank Towne Center, karaoke and bar hopping in Old Towne Pasadena.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is not one sole person, but rather a collaborative of people who have helped me get this far in life. I am extremely grateful for the friends and family who have supported all my crazy ideas throughout the years, and have supported the growth of my business, especially Toi, Jeena, Jackie and my sister Nicole. My father for always pushing me and reminding me that I am capable of anything I put my mind to. My mother for believing in me and always being there when I needed an extra hand, or two. My partner whom has really helped build me up personally the past few years. He pushes me out my comfort zone, makes sure I hold myself accountable, helps me grow daily and is my biggest fan. Thank you to everyone whom continue to believe in me.
