We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanil Maldonado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yanil, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have multiple businesses, so one business led to another. It started with my passion for organizing and planning events which led me to start my event planning company. After doing that for a few years I craved the support of someone who would guide me in the businesses process. So I created the platform that would give businesses visibility, provide them with information, and help them grow their business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Global Popups serves to support small business owners, creatives, artists, and makers with a space where they’re able to showcase their brands and services while providing them with relatable resources. Based on my testimonials, my unique positioning has been the community we’ve built based off of collective growth and not just profit. I support and value my vendors and work hard to make sure they get the exposure they deserve.

Getting where I am was not easy, in fact I still face some challenges. I had to learn alot, be consistent, stay determined and get clear on my intentions with my business in order to get where I am today. I also had to seek professional help from mentors, accountants, and business specialists. They’ve all helped me thrive in my business.

I’ve learned many lessons, one of the biggest lessons was to have a plan. I strongly recommend for anyone who’s starting a business to come up with a plan. Strategy creates alignment between you and your ideal customer. When you have a plan you can seamlessly support your customers without sacrificing other areas of your business.

I want the world to know that they’re not alone in their journeys. Global Popups is here to connect them with like minded people without the restriction of location. Our virtual pop ups are the perfect opportunity to increase their brand awareness and welcome them to a loving and supportive community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from New York so I would take them to Times Square to go window shopping and see the lights and sky scrapers. Then we’d go to get massages in Canal Street and then head down to Brooklyn to a restaurant called Champs Diner. I’m vegan and they have some bomb vegan food there. The next day we’d head out to long island to go zip lining in a place called zip long island. Lastly, we’d head home and since I like to curate experiences I’d prepare a nice movie night for a pre sleepover. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my global popups vendor community. It is through their support that I’ve been able to evolve and grow. Thanks to their effort and support I’ve been able to grow the community. They’ve inspired me to constantly seek for ways to elevate our brands.
