We had the good fortune of connecting with Yukio, plant designer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yukio, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
During these tough times staying home due to Covid-19, plants have helped to shine a bright light in people’s lives. Plants help to bring a sense of beauty and require loving care. People have turned to buying plants to decorate their homes, bedrooms, offices, etc. I’ve heard people refer to it as “adopting a plant.” I take great pride in potting my plants with the most unique and elegant combinations. It’s like finding the right clothes and creating the perfect outfit. I’ve come up with my own hand-crafted pot designs and try to create the best combinations with my plants.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I come from a very talented and artistic family. However, I’ve never been much an artist. Once I started collecting plants and finding the right styles, something clicked when putting it all together. It seemed to come natural in making plant designs, starting with the adequate plants and pots. I want everyone to know that we all have talents and sometimes they are hidden! I did this as a hobby and it turned into a business. It never really feels like work as it is a passion of mine. Dig deep within yourself and you’ll find your talents.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA spreads far from the ocean to the mountains.. There are plenty of good eats & places to see around Santa Monica & Venice Beach. Not too far from there you can explore unique cuisines Downtown towards Little Tokyo, China Town, Korea Town, etc. Melrose, Flea Markets & Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade are great for shopping. Also check out “Kiosk Boys” in Little Tokyo for unique Vintage Clothing.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
