We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanel Hawk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chanel, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is how society pressures college leads to success.

It may, for some people… but I think success should only be defined by yourself- whatever makes you happy is what you should do, regardless of the status quo.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Honey Love Organicz apart from other Self Care brands is our hair oils are 100% natural – no gimmicks!

I am most proud of myself for getting Honey Love Organicz into 4 retail stores thus far, it hits home because the stores that now carry our product, are ones I used to shop in as a kid. It’s still unbelievable at times.

The steps I took to getting my business to where it is today, is promoting myself and putting my brand out there. It did get tiring going to pop ups sometimes- I live upstairs so I’d have to carry my table and cart everywhere
But I would always focus on the bigger picture – taking my business to the next level..
And remember you have to be uncomfortable sometimes to grow!!

A valuable lesson I learned along the way is • whatever you want out of life is achievable, you just have to be willing to put the work in for it.

I would like to encourage others with my story. I started my business at 17 years old as a high school graduate with no knowledge of marketing, no business plan, etc. I put the work in and researched all these topics + more to get myself to where I am today. I want to encourage those of any age to do what they love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooh, my favorite places to go are

Manhattan Beach Pier

Louisiana Chicken lol

Islands Restaurant

Bowling

Del Amo Mall to shop

Soul Food Shack

Knotts Berry Farm

The Grove

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I firstly want to dedicate my shoutout to God. I put God first in everything I do, he has gave me the strength & confidence to start my business and follow through with it everyday.

Secondly, I’d like to shout out my Mom, she is beside me at every pop up shop I attend, helping me set up & etc. I love her and the support she gives me. She’s always there for me, no matter what.
