We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaushlesh ‘Garry’ Purohit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaushlesh ‘Garry’, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Give your 100% towards your goal, then whatever happens, happens for good” – Brijesh Purohit
It’s liberating to not be worried about the result of a particular situation. Be it a mix or a production or an approval. Just making sure that you are putting your full effort to the best of your knowledge, will guarantee a result in your favor.
It may not be your preferred result but it will be in your favor for sure.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started as a computer programmer, I soon realized that it was not what I wanted to do. I enrolled into Berklee College of Music and studied Music Production and engineering. Moved to Los Angeles, started working at Shangri-La Studios and Woodshed Recording in Malibu. Got to learn form the best in the industry and now I am working as a freelance audio engineer.
I believe that the culture and the values that I grew up with, prepared me to be a trustworthy person. As an audio engineer it is important for me to make sure that the artist is feeling comfortable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Visit Malibu, Enjoy burritos at Lily’s Malibu,
Relax at Point Dume,
Go for a drive in Topanga Canyon with some Sunlife Smoothies,
Grab some Donuts from Sidecar in Santa Monica and walk around Venice Beach,
Get some Bowling action going in DTLA,
Hike up to Escondido Falls,
Visit the Old LA Zoo.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dana Nielsen – For giving me the confidence to be a better audio engineer.
Rob Bisel – For showing me that it’s possible.
