We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharron Stroud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharron, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
How many of us during the course of ur lives have asked ourselves, “How do I know whether to keep going or give up?” This is an extremely relevant question when we “keep doing what we are doing” and not seeing the results we have envisioned.

We can approach this dilemma in one of two ways. Firstly, we need to look at the time, energy and resources we have put into our Life’s Work, and secondly, is the Universe sending us a message that we need to change course if we are not receiving tangible results?

I take exception to the mind set of “giving up”, as it smacks of a defeatist attitude. A True Believer takes stock of the situation and looks for other avenues to achieve their desired results. I have served the New Thought movement as a Spiritual Leader for 46 years. In the course of my San Diego Ministry we had 3,000 people showing up every week. I had a weekly television program, Passport to Life and a Radio Show, The Choice is Yours. It was a thriving Ministry and we served the multitudes with our message of Universal Love and Oneness.

As things grew I realized through a series of events that I no longer fit in the box with the movement I was affiliated with and made the decision to go Independent from the organization. What I did not anticipate was that many people felt “safe” being affiliated with the “Mother Church” of the Centers for Spiritual Living, which at that time was the Church of Religious Science.

I made the decision to “ride the wave” of change and move with the ebb and flows of creating an independent Ministry. After a few years when I knew I had done all there was to do I received a call from Dr. Terry Cole-Whattaker, whose book, What You Think of Me is None of My Business was on the New York Times Best Sellers List. Dr. Terry asked if I would take over her Palm Springs Ministry. It felt right and I made the decision to make the move.

Changing course is not “giving up” it is creating new options to share one’s gifts, talents and precious resources. There is a “still small voice” within each of us guiding and directing us every step of the way if we are listening to the intuitive energy beaconing us to take the leap of faith, knowing we will land on higher ground.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When one loves what they do and do what they love there is no greater combination in Life than that! I would venture to say, that the energy of Love lifts us through the routines of work into a celebration of life, for as Gibran stated, “What is your work, but love made visible.”

Rather than what sets me “apart” I would rather view as, what sets me “up” as a model for others on the path of transformation and enlightenment. Being raised in domestic violence with the tragedy of my sister taking her own life, This experience created in me a compelling force to be a beneficial presence on the planet, and as Dostoievski observed, “to be worthy of my sufferings.” . The journey was arduous and full of challenges, as I was a female in basically, a male dominated profession. The constant refrain, “You’re too pretty to be a minister”, was constant, however, they soon learned that I was more than just a pretty face! I dealt with Boards of Trustees at my various ministries with compassion, clarity and a spirit of cooperation, however, I was very clear that we stay in integrity with our Teachings and embody our message of Universal love and oneness.

Overcoming the challenges was truly about the persistence to “keep on keeping on”, knowing there was a light at the end of the tunnel and it was not an oncoming train! This Divine Light went before me to prepare the way and was a great incentive to stay on the path and to embrace whatever was confronting me at the moment. One of my personal credos is to “draw the larger circle” and include whatever is in front of me! When we include the energy we learn to direct it and use it as a momentum for our highest vision, our deepest desire and most sacred goal. The piece on Persistence by Calvin Coolidge is truly an epic work that profoundly inspired me, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” When I felt the sting of disappointment I always returned to this inspiring work and it gave me a new strength to continue on with a renewed.sense of my mission, “To inspire, teach and heal. To share and expand the experience of Universal Love with all creation!”

As I began to be acknowledged for my Message I was invited to give my presentations all over the world, including Africa, at Madonna University every year for 25,000 students and faculty. All of Academia showed up to present at these conferences and the decision was made to create The International Foundation for World Peace and Research. I was unanimously voted in as the President, and when I brought to their attention that those with much greater credentials than mine were far more qualified, they protested and said: “When you speak we learn!” This was extremely humbling and gratifying, as my Universal Message of Love and Oneness touched them in a profound way. Here I was in the midst of doctors, attorneys, university professors, and other esteemed professionals and they wanted the Minister of Palm Springs, CA to lead the foundation. This took me to Oslo, Norway where I became part of the Nobel Peace Commission and nominated the Chancellor and Founder of Madonna University, Dr. Emmanuel Edeh. It was an amazing adventure and I met with heads of state, the President of the United Nations, in Geneva Switzerland, The Honorable Carol Handshin, where she coined the term “Famliarchy”, rather than Patriarchy or Matriarchy.. I deeply related to this, as we are all part of the human family and intimately connected!

Out of my work I was given the International Peace Prize at the African Peace Conference and the Palm Springs Human Rights Award, which touched me deeply. On my 40th Anniversary in the Ministry the Palm Springs Walk of Fame honored me with a Star on the sidewalk, along with many other beautiful souls that reads: Dr. Sharron Stroud – Humanitarian – Minister of Peace.

The Key for me has been about sacred service. When we serve unconditionally with no thought of return we create an opening to receive our good, “pressed down, shaken together and overflowing!” When Albert Schweitzer stated: “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” These words have carried me through the 46 years of serving humanity through a Ministry of Universal Love and Oneness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
At the Rose of Sharron Sanctuary, which is my home up on the hill in Desert Edge, CA. It is overlooking a mountain range that I affectionately refer to as “My Himalayas”. The energy is filled with the serenity and tranquility of a spiritual retreat. There are mineral hot springs in our community that I take advantage of everyday.

“And it must have been in ancient times when the mists of Sec-he rose from the desert floor, an oasis of mystery enveloped in palm trees. These waters, now known as Sacred Hot Mineral Springs, located in the heart of Desert Hot Springs, were a significant source of community and life for the indigenous Cahuilla people. Considered a point between the physical and supernatural worlds, the steaming hot springs were representative of a basic force from which all things are created. Bathing in its waters brought protection of the spirit.

Cahuilla legend holds that the spring itself was brought forth from the earth by the “head man,” Tu-to-meet, who, sick and ailing, struck his staff into the ground, twisted it and, when the water poured out, declared that this boiling water is “… to be there forever and always for the sick.” Whether mythology or simply the visionary gift of those who live close to the earth, this understanding of the power of the spring’s ability to heal was prescient knowledge.”

There are also the Palm Springs Cultural Center Theater that features some amazing Art Films, The Tuscan Grill, The Palm Springs Art Fair every Thursday evening and the Labyrinth Walk at the Wellness Park. For an inspiring experience in nature with ancient rock formations and mystical energy (many UFO sightings) is Joshua Tree. There are organic restaurants as well along with the beautiful energy of La Vallauris for the connoisseur of French Cuisine. There truly is something for everyone in our amazing Coachella Valley.

In the ancient Cahuilla Tribe Coachella meant The Hand of God. This is a a beautiful metaphor, as I feel cradled in the Everlasting Arms of this amazing energy field, here in this heavenly atmosphere. On the west end of the Coachella Valley, gracing the steep slopes of Mount San Jacinto above Palm Springs, is the unique rock formation known as the Angel on the Mountain. It is visible, when you know where to look, of course, from a great distance and adds credence to the belief of many that the Coachella Valley is a sacred and spiritual area. You can clearly see the Amazing Angel on the steep slopes of San Jacinto in the Photos that have been archived through the years.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I acknowledge the Science of Mind Movement and Dr. Ernest Holmes for the Truth that set me free to follow my bliss and share my passion. I also acknowledge all those whom I have served throughout the 46 years of my ministry. Every transformation, healing and revelation of Truth was a gift to me. When A Course In Miracles States, “The only cost in giving is receiving” this is so very true! The Universe pours out its blessings to those who create a portal of receiving! And so it is.
