We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle Kenyon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I can’t imagine doing anything other than being creative. I’ve had all types of jobs, ranging from factory work to sports writing, and I only feel really happy with myself when I’m creating something.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always loved directing and editing film projects of any length. Making comedy that finds humor in sad or difficult feelings is probably what I love to do the most. There’s nothing more collaborative than movies, whether they’re shorts or features. I feel really lucky to have a great crew around me to make my silly ideas tangible. I don’t personally know of anything more fulfilling than completing a project and seeing how everyone contributed to it.
And I also love re-editing celebrity interviews and old VHS tapes. Is that…art?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This city is awesome and I love so many places here. One of my go-to destinations for out-of-towners is the New Beverly Cinema. I’ve been going there for over a decade now and I can’t wait to go back when they re-open.
L.A. also has some of the coolest bars. I live in the valley and always make sure to show people Idle Hour, Little Toni’s, and Forman’s.
If we’re just looking for food, I love love love Lettuce Feast. Just writing their name is making me consider eating there tonight.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I frequently work with some awesome people, but my most frequent collaborators in the past year have been Nina Concepción and AJ Salas. They’ve never hesitated to work on a new project, no matter how ridiculous.
