We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Mucerino (Crossing i’s Dotting t’s) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My cousin passed away from Cancer at the age of 21. He was my best friend and the one person who loved the same type of raw, organic, real type of rock-based music. He was the only one I could send songs from bands like Joyce Manor and FIDLAR to, everyone else just wouldn’t understand. I found the live session show called Audiotree on YouTube years ago, and spent many days and nights watching my favorite bands like Sorority Noise, Seahaven and PUP give emotionally stirring and moving performances and I thought to myself: “I want to be on this and Luke (my cousin) would’ve loved this.” I’ve really set my sights on performing on Audiotree and hopefully soon I can make dream a reality.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I just pride myself on not trying to sound like whatever is popular at the time. Most people try to shift their sound to what’s popular, or just make music based off what’s popular. I believe music is for emotions, and not for perfection.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my producer Alex Estrada of Pale Moon Audio (Joyce Manor, Silver Snakes, Touché Amoré, Nails) as well as Joyce Manor for putting me into contact with him. I had reached out to Joyce Manor and they let me know about Alex and how great he is, so I decided to hit him up and he was nice enough to take on my project. I was struggling to find the right producer for me and my sound and when I started working with Alex, I knew it was a perfect fit for me.
