Meet Dailey Pike: Polymath

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dailey Pike and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dailey, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
No risk no reward. Risk taking has been a big part of my life. Qutting a well paying but uninteresting job to start a career as a standup comic in the early 80’s is an example. But I ended up in Los Angeles and worked on hundreds of talk shows and sitcoms in the 90’s, appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and Apollo Theater, and met a cavalcade of stars.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud that at 70 years old since about 2010, I’m in the middle of my third career making/promoting/marketing a line of hot sauces at http://amazon.com/condimentdysfunction and a fashion designer having created Dragon Fashion http://Dragon.Fashion
Prior to that from 2000 or so, I spent a decade or so as a jazz photographer and filmmaker. I worked at jazz clubs all over Los Angeles including Catalina Jazz Club, Vibrato, Blue Whale, Charlie O’s and venues including the Grammy Museum, Playboy Jazz Festival @Hollywood Bowl, Disney, and the John Anson Ford Center. http://PictureSnatcher.com
The work I did before that can be found at the Independent Movie Data Base. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0683205/
I overcame challenges by being too ignorant to think I couldn’t do something. I will try most anything.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d spend time at The Getty and The Brand Museum. I’d also visit Little Tokyo, the Garment District, every jazz club I could, all my fav restaurants famous & not, the Farmer’s Market, and a driving tour with my personal narration of the experiences I’ve had, some of which were quite wild such as my years at The Comedy Store appearing there with the likes of Robin, Kinnison, Leno, Dice, Pryor, Letterman and many more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out Marcus Aurelius, emperor of Rome and author of The Meditations who taught me things like “Don’t ask what a good is, be one.” and “If it’s right, do it.”
