We had the good fortune of connecting with Jener DaSilva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jener, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My background is in acting and tv/film production and this seemed like the perfect way to merge two things that I loved to do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’d say what sets me apart is how left field my ideas are, I can approach something very basic with a very out there angle and I think people can really relate to that. At the end of the day we all experience the world in an odd way so trying to capture that essence in my videos is crucial to me.

I’m most excited about new ideas! I have so many ideas always bubbling up it never feels like I have enough time to film them all!

I’m still in the building stages right now and I think that’s a very exciting place to be. I hope to constantly be building and growing and improving what I do. I really feel like online content is undeniably the future and to be apart of this wave is extraordinary. It’s a really wild time.

Some of the challenges I face right now are simply staying consistent! Sometimes you have off days and don’ feel like creating and that’s a hard ceiling to break through. I’ve found what helps me is picking up the camera and just filming something, especially when I don’t want to, because once I start I always get into it and start having fun.

What I want people to know about me is why I do this. For me, it really is about trying to make people’s day better. They say laughter is the best medicine so if I can make someone laugh or smile, and forget the hard stuff we all face, even for a second, then I feel like I’ve done my job.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a huge fan of wandering and I feel so fortunate to live in L.A because it is an endless maze! Whenever I have friends/family in from out of town, I definitely go exploring with them. I try to find somewhere neither one of us has been before and have found some pretty incredible spots in the process! From waterfall hikes, to cliff diving spots, to the cutest small town in-n-outs (always a personal favorite) to the beaches, to fashion district, there is always somewhere great waiting to be explored here.

So if you’re coming into town you best believe I’m gonna try to give you the most varied experience possible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! You can only accomplish anything of notoriety as a team. It feels like all great things are done as a group effort and very rarely, if ever, a sole person. That being said, I’m always trying to learn as much as I can about creating and there has definitely been some huge inspirations/ mentorships along the way. And I still hope to build more! (So if you’re looking to collaborate definitely reach out! I love to meet and work with new creatives!) There’s always something to be learned from people, so I’m always in search of like minded, hardworking peeps that are fun to work with. Some people who have been inspirational in my story, is Kurt Tocci. He honestly has taught me so much and let me glean so much knowledge about content creating. He taught me how to film and use a camera and how to edit and a lot of great tips on story telling. He has also showed me how to be as relatable as possible with your content and that has been such a huge help. It has already paid off immensely. Like how I now get paid to film and make videos! Also the Smile Squad team has had a huge impact on me. Through working with and getting to know them and their journey, it has really inspired me to keep going and try to spread positive messaging out into the world. Making people laugh is great, but if you can do it while spreading messages of kindness, acceptance, and love, I truly believe that’s an incredible thing. My friends and family have all been a huge help, letting me pick their brains on content I create, and pitching me on new ideas. They are a wacky bunch so it always cracks me up to hear what they think I should do next and have been a great shoulder to lean on!
