We had the good fortune of connecting with Linzie Cox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linzie, we’d love to hear about the influences and inspirations behind who you are today. Who or what had the biggest influence on your career?
My inspiration for both making and selling art began with my aunt when I was around 7 years old. I was really interested in creating art at school, and my Aunt Susie kept me motivated to continue creating at home. It started with little works such as designing the headstone for our late bunny, Boogers. That progressed into commissioned paintings and drawings she would buy from me. We would read about Michelangelo, and back then, my aunt was an avid collector of works by the LA based multi-media artist, Shari Elf. These early experiences taught me about the importance of art, as well as gave me confidence to make it. Thus, a few seeds for my current art business were planted.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make terrarium necklaces and figurines inspired by vintage miniatures. Most pieces are infused with at least one vintage element, and always lots of color! My first two years in business have flown by, and I’m eternally grateful to my Long Beach shops (MADE & Songbird) for giving my creations a start in their cool stores. My logo and brand name (Neko Jewelry) give nods to cats and Japan-two of my loves!
