We had the good fortune of connecting with Angi Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angi, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Honestly, my business started because of my Podcast “TWS With Angi B”. Sometimes I would say things on there and I’m like dang that needs to go on a shirt. I was using a fulfillment center for everything but then covid hit and their production time and quality levels dropped off dramatically. So, I decided to do it myself. Now, I make my clothing for the Just Angi brand and I also take custom orders, I’m not quite at the point where I can do Angi’s Shop LLC full time, but that day is coming. Hopefully sooner than later.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run Angi’s Shop LLC it’s an online clothing and BBQ brand. The main thing I’m proud of with Angi’s Shop is that even when times have been rough, I’ve never waivered from the fundamental idea that my brand is a representation of me. Each phrase or design I come up with is me, it’s my personality. Sure my personality is very rough around the edges, but at the end of the day, if you don’t like my stuff send me what you want and I can make it for you.

Starting a company during a pandemic with no money and honestly without a solid game plan was definitely a struggle. I took my stimulus check (which I needed for bills) and bought a Cricut cutting machine and heat press instead and launched Angi’s Shop LLC. It’s still a challenge, I work full time, I run my business alone and I’m pursuing standup comedy so I’ve got a lot on my plate but once Angi’s Shop becomes my main source of income, things will change for me. No matter how hard things may seem, you just have to keep going.

“Angi’s Shop: Bad ass clothing and good ass BBQ!” The tagline says it all. Come experience what Angi’s Shop has to offer!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, well I don’t really get out much and I tend to be pretty basic in my tastes but let’s give it a whirl. So, I’m sure a lot of people would say that the beach is on their list of must-do activities, but I’m an LA native living in Orange County and I hate the beach. Now, LA does have a lot to offer. So, if a friend was visiting at least one night I’d force them to come see me perform standup. Honestly, I’d probably take them on a Hollywood bus tour (mostly because I’ve never been on one). We’d for sure have to go people-watching at Venice. One afternoon we’d for sure go to at least one museum. I don’t really enjoy clubs, so we’ll probably do a couple of bar crawls, one in LA and one in the OC. That’s all I’ve got since I don’t get out much we’d definitely have to yelp all of our activities. Bottom line, I’d be a terrible hostess haha.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my family and friends. My friends and family have spent many of their weekends helping me out at pop-up shops or spent their entire Sundays helping my booth at Leimert park even though I couldn’t afford to pay them for their time. They can see what I’m working for and have fully supported me. So, when I become successful, we’ll all become successful. It’s only a matter of time!
