We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles Greaves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charles, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in Brentwood NY. Brentwood is a rough place to come out of, but it’s also a very diverse community. So while it made me tough, it also helped shape me into a more sensitive and understanding person.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I co-produce Supernova Comedy, but I’m also a comedian. It’s exciting because I get to share the stage with friends, but also comedians that I’ve looked up to. I produce the show with one of my best friends, so I’m in a lucky position. He’s really pushed me to be a better comedian, and doing this show has helped put me in a better position as far as my comedy career is concerned. It’s definitely not been easy, but there have been a lot of memorable and enjoyable moments. I’ve learned to take advantage of situations and to always be prepared, but to not get upset over missing some opportunities because, if you’re prepared for it, you can likely make your own opportunities. If there’s something I could pass on to others, it is that integrity goes a long way, and that it’s possible for the nice guy to win the race.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to Carney’s for some amazing hot dogs, Poquito Mas for a great burrito, and Cici’s Cafe for some of the best soufflé pancakes around. As for entertainment, there’s one place, and that’s the Supernova Comedy show. Entertaining shows with the biggest names in comedy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many I could name. Many people bent over backwards to help me reach my goals. If I were to choose one it would be Candy Ross from my days at Ithaca College. Without her I probably would have never made it to my senior year of college, let alone graduate. A lot of opportunities opened up for me there so a big shout out goes to Candy.
