We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Fuqua and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be an independent person. Independence is what lead me to become an entrepreneur. As an adolescent, while most may have thought of a managerial position, I always thought; “Well, how did the owner become the owner?” Enterprise has always intrigued me, but what lead me specifically to Real Estate, to become a Realtor, was my mom. There are two stories, that has played a role in my journey. The first story is” My mom was studying to become a Real Estate agent while I was in High School. I watched her study from afar, and the learning videos caught my attention enough, that I went to take my Real Estate Principle courses in 2006, right after I graduated High School. At that time, I was torn between pursuing Real Estate Fulltime, or going to College, to get my bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing and Management. With the being said, I chose my college career. Three years later, during the Real Estate Market crash between 2008-2009, My mom had to short-sale the home I spent junior high and high school in. I was perplexed at what happened, because just three years prior, our family home was worth double what my mom bought it for in the year 2000. Now, nine years later, all the equity is gone and she has to short-sale. That was my second call to Real Estate. Between 2014-2016 I dabbled in wholesaling real estate, and in March of 2016, I became a licensed Realtor for the State of California, and I am still a her-story in the making, on a journey to help thousands of families and individuals, use Real Estate as a creative vehicle, that leads them to independence and generational wealth.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Realtor / Real Estate Industry, has had multi decade’s of white male (and female) dominance. So much so, that there were times when Realtor’s of the past, caused what we know today by definition as; Red Lining and Steering. So I am proud to be a woman of aboriginal decent, owning a Real Estate business, that can help today’s generation,
break-through the barriers of owning property in places where their ancestors, may have been excluded from owning property, or conducting business.
In addition to selling Real Estate. I am genuinely a down-to-earth person; I can hold a conversation on just about any topic. I’m a huge researcher, and I love to dig deep into Worldwide studies.
As a Realtor, I am not a promoter of the conventional: “Buy your dream home and payoff your mortgage in 30 years.”
I believe, sometimes your first property isn’t a dream by its looks, but by the resources it can provide. I believe Real Estate is a tool. Although, your living environment is important, I always ask my clients: “What is your end goal?” Depending on the answer to that question, we will build a Real Estate plan of action. Sometimes, that action plan takes multi level steps, that isn’t based on the emotions we see on television commercials, when someone is shown purchasing their first home.
If you’re looking for a Real-Realtor, I look forward to working with you soon! XOXO

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m Vegan, so visiting some of my top vegan restaurant spots in So-Cal is priority! First, I’d start in the city I currently reside (Newhall, CA), and visit a family owned Mexican restaurant called LaCharrita; who has the best jackfruit chimichangas! After we eat, we can walk to a couple of boutique stores and get a cup of coffee from Honu Coffee.
The next day, we can go to the San Fernando Valley and visit Follow Your Heart restaurant and health food store; where we can eat an amazing nut based burger and shop the natural herbs/ supplements, organic foods, and shop their handmade jewelry items and natural stones, etc. After, we can go to Ventura Blvd strip in Sherman Oaks, and walk to visit various boutiques and stores. When leaving, we can take Topanga Canyon to Malibu and Santa Monica Beach. We can stay at a nice hotel in Santa Monica, and the next day enjoy 3rd street promenade, and rent scooters to ride to Abbot Kinney and Venice Beach. So many unique stores, and unique persons to see in the Venice Beach area!
Next, We’d go to Melrose Ave, to eat at Sugar Taco and walk down Melrose to visit sooo many stores and boutiques.
Then, finishing in Orange County for a 2-3 day stay. We’d eat at Sea Birds in Costa Mesa and Gracias Madre in Newport. We’d jet ski in Dana Point, have picnic in Heisler Park and walk Laguna Beach. We’d also visit the Laguna Canyon Winery.
