We had the good fortune of connecting with Vasti Varela and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vasti, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I was a little girl art has been a magnetic attraction of my attention. The use of the different mediums and materials sparked my interest daily and conceived a passion for creating. As I carried that passion into my adult life, I explored with different careers in search for what I would consider ” my calling”. How could I best use my God given gifts? The pursuit of that answered has lead me to where I am today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My story begins with love, Love for creating, love for flowers, love for helping people execute their visions.
I would consider myself a collector of inspiration, someone who brings ideas together and creates new designs. I have a passion for taking different textures and colors and creating experiences that people fully enjoy. However above all, my joy comes in knowing my clients and creating friendships so that together we can achieve a spectacle event for their guest.
Without any formal training, I’ve work my way into learning this industry all through trial and error. I’ve had many sleepless nights and there have been many tears along the way but I firmly believe those tough days have made me a better person, a better designer and a better business owner.
I often asked myself why continue this career? The answer is simply for the love it, I love the people I get to meet and work with along the way.
I would like people to know that we are here to serve you! We love what we do in designing and we look forward to working with you and getting to know you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them on a nature hike to Santa Anita canyon.
We would visit the Huntington library to take a peaceful walk among all the beautiful flowers, then perhaps event have some high tea there.
One of my favorite places to have lunch would be at Nordstrom cafe. I love the simplify of the menu and the food it amazing. It also so helps that I can easily do some shopping.
Take a trip to Disneyland
take a trip Solvange and enjoy the day there.
A drive along the coast would also be on the agenda of things to do.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mother. Undoubtedly she was my greatest supporter, mentor, teacher and encourager. Even though she would deny it at times, I believe I owe my love for creating to her and her influence in my life. During my childhood crafting was a big part of every day life, my mom would come home each day from work with a new craft to put together, which defiantly nurtured my creativity. In adulthood, as I searched for my career path she was my constant advisor and confidant, she support me in my low points and rejoiced with me in my high points. She taught me to pour into others the gifts that God gives us so that we can all work together for a greater good. This mindset was the reason I started my business in help other with their events. Giving something of myself to help bring together wonderful events for people has been my driving factor that I contribute to my mom.
Even though she is no longer with me on earth she is still present in my thoughts and in my journey as I take with me her love and and words of encouragement each and every day.
