We had the good fortune of connecting with Eva Afaghani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eva, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I love connecting food with a story!
My desserts are inspired by nature and memories!
Nature heavily affect the designs of my desserts.
I treat each cake or dessert as if it’s personal affaire, lots of my desserts flavors are from places I’ve visited or things from my background and childhood a little bit between the East and West
For example my baklava cheesecake is an homage for the San dunes in the Sahara desert
I strive to provide my customers with an experience and dessert that I will be a part of a new memory that they can cherish for years to come
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business started by accident I always loved baking (with my girls) and shared it on my Instagram page and found my creative outlet (after postpartum) in the designed cakes, people started contacted me to buy and that’s how my business was born!
Therefor my business is a little different, I never had any experience in business before so there was a lot of rough patches along the way but I try to look it at as a huge learning experience, and I’m still learning and growing with it.
One of the lessons I’ve learned is to be original and always believing in yourself even when you are skeptical or doubting Yousef, it’s a bumpy road and you can’t give up, your business might not look like everyone else and that’s ok!
When I face challenges I remember why I started this and how much joy baking and designing my cakes bring me and my customers and that’s what keep me going.
I love infusing flavors from different areas – tying recipes to their origins but also add my creative twist and that’s what make them one of a kind!
It’s all about quality and originality of the design, when I make you a cake I want you to feel that it was made for only for you and not only look good it has to taste out of this world
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’ll be tons of hiking and hitting the beautiful beaches
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughters are my biggest supporters and always pushing to dream bigger they love what I do abs I always include them in the process My family and small group of friends 💕
