We had the good fortune of connecting with Gianbattista Vinzoni and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gianbattista, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by all the Chefs I`ve worked with during my career. The passion that I have experienced in different ways and now is in me. I want to put on the plate everything they taught me. I’m also inspired by food as to create something that you will never forget.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the Chef/Owner of Cinque Terre West Osteria, a small restaurant located in Pacific Palisades that me and my wife Marlo opened in May of 2019. We created an old school artisanal restaurant, specialized on Ligurian cuisine (regional), where everything is made in the house from scratch: pasta, bread, focaccia, pizza, cornetti (italian version of croissant). I like to show the younger generation of chef how things are made when you are passionate about what you do, how things are better when you don’t cut corners and how hard work always pays off.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely the Malibu Farm Pier Cafe, nice lunch al fresco and than side scene. For brunch i would take them to Rose Cafe in Venice, great and rustic and walking distance from the Boardwalk Good quick snack would be Sonny Blue, great omusubi! For Italian i would take him to Cecconi`s, beautiful scene and solid food Finally i would take him to Catch, really solid food and great atmosphere
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout goes to all the people working in the kitchen around the globe, in particular the ones which are never recognized but without them it would not be possible obtain results. Prep Cooks, Dish Washers, Line cooks…..I just want to say Thank You for your hard work!
