We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamilah Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamilah, how do you think about risk?
I’ve never like to play it safe. I’ve always been the one that with the optimistic attitude of “let’s see what happens.” When I was younger, risk taking was easy. If I failed, I was young and hopeful enough to pick myself back up. If I succeeded, it only boasted my confidence and I was ready to make my next move. But risk taking became life altering once I had children. While having a young son, I took a major risk and left my corporate career to pursue my entrepreneur dreams. It was a risk, but I was confident in my abilities. What followed were major failures, financial depression, and my darkest days. I thought I’d never recovery. These dark days eventually lead me on a spiritual journey, which led me to my current career and passion! I mean, it was tough! But, I thank God for the hard lessons learned. My work now is so aligned with my soul purpose. With this work, I feel grateful and lavishly blessed everyday.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hi! Jamilah here! I’m a Holistic Professional Organizer and Interior Stylist based in Los Angeles. I started my company, Style & Order, after discovering the life-changing miracles that happen to me once I decluttered my home and mind.

It is my mission to free people from clutter and overwhelm so they can welcome in the abundance and peace they deserve.

I’ve always been naturally talented at organizing and designing. Finding my way to Style & Order was the most difficult path I’ve ever taken. I tried to start so many other business but all failed within a year. Although I was naturally gifted at organizing and designing, I never knew that this was supposed to my life’s purpose!

When I started my entrepreneur journey, my first goal was to simply make a lot of money. This wasn’t the best strategy. I ended up more broke and desperate than ever. Fast forward a few years, and a few hard lessons later, my mission evolved and service became my #1 priority. In fact, it still is! I always serve my clients at the highest level. I give my all to my clients and in turn, they pay me well for my services.

My advice to anyone looking to start a business or company is to search deep within and ask yourself these questions: “What makes me feel alive when I’m doing it?” “What do my friends and family reach out to me for?” Once you can answer these questions truthfully, then this is the path you should be on. Take the first step and let God do the rest.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m no LA concierge but I’m a believer that the best things in life are free. I would take my best friend to The Observatory on a clear day to see the entire LA skyline. Next day, we’ll take a trip to the Getty Museum and have a picnic above the clouds and on the final day, we’ll go to Griffith Park to hike and then treat ourselves to some amazing, organic soul food from Comfort LA in downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God deserves all the credit for my success. I am only the vessel he uses to bless others. My company’s tag line is #RoomforGod. Which essentially means, clear out the physical and mental clutter so God can have room to work in your life and home. I started my spiritual journey by reading A Course in Miracles. It is a deep, lengthy spiritual textbook that teaches you how to turn fear into love. Since reading this book, the miracles that have happen in my life are unsurmountable. This is the book for anyone who going through their darkest days. Let this book be your light.
