We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, how do you think about risk?
Risk to me feels like freedom. When you’re young, you are afraid to take risks because of the fear you have about being stuck. If you take a leap and land on the wrong ground, you feel like you ‘have’ to stay there. But in reality, you just have to take the leap again and land elsewhere. Risk can be scary, especially when taking it while the world feels like it’s ending. Not being able to control the outside world can lead to more fear than you initially started with.

At the beginning of COVID, we really didn’t know what was going to happen. Seeing how much people were cleaning out shelves at the store or how much people carried their fear under their masks, really made taking a ‘risk’ more intimidating. KittyFXShop came to be during these times; during times of the unknown. To be honest, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Starting a business during such a frantic time really makes us see our progress and journey.

Our little spooky shop is about to turn 1 in October 2021. We know we have a ways to go but we are really proud that we took a risk. We found a community that loves spooky season as much as we do. For anyone reading this pick up your pen, turn that page…take that leap! You will never know what lies ahead if you don’t start and take that risk.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
KittyFXShop is a spooky shop for the everyday ghoul. We see Halloween as a lifestyle, not as a holiday. My fiance and I love horror movies! Our goal with the shop is to release themed collections and not just release random products. Each launch we do, we challenge ourselves by releasing something new; coming up with an idea another shop hasn’t done or put our own twist into said idea can be challenging at times. Wanting to be different and successful can be stressful but we are loving the journey thus far.

One thing we want the world to know about KittyFXShop is that we truly are for everyone and anyone. We believe in inclusivity. Being a misfit amongst the mortal world can feel lonely at times. We welcome the different, strange, and the unusual!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We currently reside in Long Beach. Our itinerary would most definitely include scootering around the city, eating food all day, and ending up at an underground bar! We are the kind of people that say “we’ll see where the wind takes us”.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to thank our friends and family for their support! From sharing our posts, purchasing our products, and even brainstorming ideas with us; we truly appreciate you guys.
