e had the good fortune of connecting with Shauvik Sharan aka Flyght Club and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shauvik, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking to me is less about chasing a big reward but about the absolute thrill that comes with it. The heart-throbbing anxiety and fist-clenching excitement that constantly keeps your mind occupied as you put your faith in your blind optimism and hope that the risk you took plays out in your favor is really interesting to me yet it is this ability to take risks that has caused us to evolve socially and culturally to where we are at today. Risk taking is a very important factor in my life and career as a music artist trying to make it big in the industry. I was a 17 year old kid in India when I decided I wanted to move to Los Angeles to try my hand in the global music. industry and ever since then risk taking has been a regular part and aspect of my life. Over the years I have developed skills to minimize the risk as much as i can but when you’re competing with some of the best music artists to have ever existed and want to shine amidst them, risk taking becomes essential when coming up with and experimenting new ways to bring forth your art to large audiences and growing your fan base. So yeah, I guess risk taking should always be looked at positively as long as there is somewhat of a logic behind it haha

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a singer, songwriter, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, mix/ mastering engineer, composer and arranger. But essentially, I’m a music artist and occasional film composer. I go by ‘Flyght Club’ as my artist/ stage name and write, produce, perform, mix and master all my songs to ensure my vision of each of my songs is conveyed to the listeners exactly how I intend them to. These songs are then brought to life with a band when playing live with help of my incredibly talented musician friends. What sets me apart as an artist is how much I prioritize versatility in my music catalog. Every song I make is a different genre and caters to different listener moods and emotions. If I release a rock song, the next one might be a chill rnb bop, the one after might be a rap song and the one after might be a dance or a house song. I dive deep into different music styles with each song and bring forth all the essential intrinsic elements of that genre. My goal is to have at least one song in my catalogue that everyone could connect based on the kind of music they’re into or what they’re feeling

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite part of Los Angeles is that I can enjoy the beach, snow and nightlife all fairly closeby. Depending on what months this “week long” trip would be, I guess I’d start off with visiting the Santa Monica pier and Venice beach, then maybe go relax or surf on beaches in Malibu. I’d probably take my friend to Koreatown for some good lunch and then to the rooftop clubs in DTLA at night. I would head up to Big Bear one of the days snd enjoy a day in snow (skiing etc). Hopefully somewhere along in the week we’d be able to spot some celebrities haha. Also the weed here is exceptionally good

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my story, my parents need the biggest of shoutouts. Having exposed me to the wonderful act of creating since a very early age got me to where I am today. They got me into reading a lot of books which in turn got me into writing stories which I’m sure played a huge part in me developing my lyric writing skills. My parents put me into instrument classes and helped me explore and find what I was truly interested in. They also supported me heavily in my pursuit of a career in music and have been behind my decision throughout which I’m extremely grateful for. Another person that deserves a shoutout is my guitar teacher Ronny in India. It was him that helped me find my passion for songwriting. He was quick to learn that I loved creating more than playing and immediately started pushing me into writing songs and arranging them. It was through him that i developed a strong foundation in creating songs that I cherish and rely on even today. Other than that I believe every single person I’ve come across (good or bad) or engaged with in any way (good or bad) deserves a shoutout as they have in some way or the other influenced me into becoming the person and artist I am today (good or bad) hahaha. But lately more than anyone, my puppy ‘Kunefe’ (pronounced Koo Nay Fay) needs a shoutout. I adopted her when she was 8 weeks old last year and life with her has been awesome and so has my mental health considering all that the world has gone through in the last year and a half.
