Meet Ethan Kregel | Musical Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Kregel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ethan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is part of any career. If you’re not willing to take a risk for something important to you, it is probably not that essential to your life. I’m taking risks all the time with my music. Currently, as I’m writing this, I am on a tour that involved me dropping school for the month, and has me making little income. However, this tour was a risk I wanted to take because of the potential outcome.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Retro Color is my music project that I have been working on for 8+ years. What sets RC apart from other musical acts is that I am in it for the long run. Everyday I am striving to be somewhere further than I was yesterday. Working on my music everyday, however, does have its struggles. There are some days where I am trying to finish a song and come across an artistic block, there are also some days where I needed to make money to pay rent and balance my work and music life. Being a musician has its ups and downs just like any other job, but it has always been worth it for me to continue on the journey.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend came to visit me in California for a week long trip, I’d probably take them to get some tacos and go to Disneyland at some point. Maybe also visit the beach and mountains. In California, there’s a little bit of everything.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my family, girlfriend, and friends that have supported me for 8+ years in music.
