We had the good fortune of connecting with DeMira Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeMira, what is the most important factor behind your success?
F.A.I.T.H! The first factor is faith in GOD and the second is faith in myself. That has been the secret sauce, with a dab of hard work. Faith in God has been the ultimate balance for me, I like to be in control  and prepared for all the possible outcomes in a scenario. When things go awry I can always go back to THE source and know that all things work together for my good. All things… meaning the good, the bad, and the absolute worst will work in my favor. Spoiler Alert…with GOD I always win!

Having faith in myself has been the driving force for me to push through failures, disappointments and setbacks. I am fully aware of my strengths and weaknesses so with that i’ve been able to use this self awareness to leverage myself as a resource and also tap into the resources I need from others. Protip: Convincing yourself that you can do anything is the first step toward doing everything.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve recently joined YouTube on the original programming team as the Creative Executive of Impact & Racial Justice programming/development. What does that mean exactly, well in so many words I’ll be working to create content that highlights & amplifies diverse stories from under-represented communities. I’m apart of the team leading the #YoutubeBlack initiative.

Outside of my formal work I have created and produced a slew of podcast and short-form content under my production company Divine Media Group Entertainment. Our mission at DMG, ENT is to create content that encourages people to become the best versions of themselves. My most recent body of work is my podcast “Life Is A Mutha”, I host with my mother Eula Jordan aka “Mama P” as she is most affectionately known on the podcast.

Life Is A Mutha explores life through our very personal mother-daughter experience, we talk about it all! I started this podcast because me and mother went through a rough patch in our relationship and I wanted to share our journey in hopes of helping anyone who is dealing with some of the things we’ve overcome in our relationship.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

As an LA native people think I know where all the “hot” spots are… I intentionally stay away from the “sceny” areas of LA so if you’re looking for something that’s a little lowkey here are my favs…

My favorite beach is Manhattan Beach, now rightfully known as “Bruce’s Beach”. A great place to grab a meal on that side of town is this family owned diner called Sloppy’s. The next place on the list is The District by G.S in Crenshaw… the food is great and depending on what time and day you go the people are lively and the vibe is LA all day. Fun fact this spot is owned by DJ Mustard’s family.

I just got into hiking over the summer so if you are a novice like me I highly recommend Terranea Hiking Trail in Palos Verdes. It’s a great view of the Pacific Ocean and depending how far you go there’s a private beach on the other side of the resort.

And lastly the infamous Leimert Park, so much culture there on any given day. I recommend going on a Sunday late morning/afternoon to get all the feels.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to show my thanks and gratitude to a multitude of mentors and personal champions of my success. I want to take this moment to shout out all the amazingly fierce & courageously strong women who have shared their insight and guided me throughout my journey.

The first shoutout goes to my mama, Eula Jordan. All I can say is what a Woman! I love you sooooo much and appreciate all the sacrifices you’ve made to get me to my place called “There”. I promise imma pay you back (LoL).

In no particular order here is a list of women who I’ve gleaned and watched from a distance on my journey. They have used their influence and platforms to help the next generation of creatives get their start. They have freely shared their resources, knowledge and mentorship with myself and so many others. You may not know them by name but I guarantee you know their work… Google them.
