We had the good fortune of connecting with Antonika Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Antonika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Partea in My Belly was that i suffer from Hypothyroidism. I suffered for years without knowing what was going on with my body. I was tested for several auto immune diseases because my lymph nodes were swollen all of the time, especially behind my ears. Thyroid issues cause your entire system to be out of wack. I suffered from hair loss, unexplainable weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, and constipation. I never got satisfactory answers from health care professionals; and was tired of being sick and tired! After some research, I signed up and paid to be in a vegan group that followed Dr. Sebi’s alkaline life. I had very little success following the diet; but learned about the power of herbs. That is when I researched, and came up with my own herbal remedies for the ailments that I suffered from.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Par-tea in My Belly is different because we are a small family owned and operated business! We don’t cater to a particular group, you can be vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, pescatarian, it doesn’t matter Par-Tea herbs are for everyone! I am excited because in everyday life there is a need to have a more natural alternative to things. I have a new original product at least quarterly; and that in itself is amazing! I got to where I am today by simply persevering, learning what not to do, and people coming to me with problems, and I gave them solutions that work! With lots of losses and learning moments! I have come to the conclusion that you have to do the work, and believe in yourself before anyone else will! Stand strong behind your products and if nothing else will help you; word of mouth is an amazing free marketing tool! I want the world to know that natural herbal products are for everyone and Par-Tea In My Belly is here to supply all of those needs! I love sending sample packs out and a quick email to parteainmybelly@gmail.com
I absolutely love Soulard in St Louis! On Friday and Saturday mornings there is a farmer’s market where they have all types of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, foods, and fun souvenirs and trinkets. At night it gets livelier and more of a party vibe. 1860 Saloon has good drinks, also I love the frozen drinks at The Island in Soulardas well as the kids love the ice cream. I workout at Cahokia Mounds 3xs weekly when the weather permits; and it is a wonderful natural exhibit that has a Museum as well in Collinsville, IL. I also love homecoming where I live in Mascoutah, Il The town is live for the entire weekend with carnival food, games, parades, car shows, and vendors it is usually the first weekend in August! Last but not least I found the perfect fast food place called Barbq Chicken located in Ofallon, Il. Everything there is delicious it’s a Korean/soul food place! Illinois or St. Louis, MO there is always some fun going on!Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Par-Tea In My Belly wouldn’t be here without the push of my family and friends they are the ones who encouraged me, invested free labor, free website designs and management, as well as free marketing and customer service advice! When My products become a known name it will be because the customers love it and said this is good enough to be all over the world!
