Meet Javier Simons | Touring Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Javier Simons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Javier, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me is being able to wake up every and do what you love, and make a living. When you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your life. Find what makes you happy, what you are passionate about, and monetize it. If you can pay your bills, then you are successful.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Founder and president of King of Queens Entertainment. We are a boutique agency based out of Austin, Texas, affiliated with The Benedetti Group. KoQ and TBG are lgbtq+ owned and operated agencies representing the best in lgbtq+ Artists and allies. We Book our talent globally for Prides, tours, tv and film, theatre, corporate events and colleges.
What I am most proud of is the work we do for our community, and the growth we have been able to achieve for our artists. We have been able to bring diversity and inclusion to the pop culture forefront thanks to the amazing work of my incredible artists! I am also proud of giving back to the community that supports us. I personally invest a lot of my time and money helping animal shelters.
My journey was not easy. I was waiting tables, bartending and working for little money with abusive bosses before I turned the page. I truly have a soft spot for entry level workers in the restaurant industry. One day my friend Rey Lopez asked me if I could help him drive the talent for his shows In the city of Austin, and that was my shot. I drove, I listened, I observed and I learned. 8 years later, I have my own agency.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I owe a lot to where I am today to the trust Rey Lopez (promoter, San Antonio, Texas) put in me. Also, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, for being a class act and keeping her word to me and allow me to be her personal assistant in the beginning of her journey.
