We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Mendilow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dan, is there something you believe many others might not?
Our society teaches us to “make” things happen in our lives. To “make” business show up, to “get” the sale, to “get that person to go out with you.” The focus is on pushing, forcing, and controlling to get what you want. And sure, it can lead you to making short-term success, but it’s also the reason so many people are burnt-out, physically unwell, and emotionally rock-bottomed, while STILL feeling unsatisfied with their careers, relationships, and quality of life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I show business-owners and coaches how to develop irresistibly magnetic energy and manifest soul-family clients so they can effortlessly enroll them into their programs at premium rates.

My journey here was a weird one. It started with me being born depressed in Israel, and being raised in NJ. I was so very different from the rest of the kids and they made me feel like an alien nobody wanted to play with. So from the beginning I felt broken, like a loser. These feelings only worsened as I grew up and got bullied for being different. I had two friends all throughout school and through most of college, and I was bullied there. I couldn’t understand why it was so easy for everyone else to make friends, go on dates, and have fun while it felt impossible for me.

That’s when I had my first brush with suicide. I felt like nothing would ever change, that I’d be a loser forever, so why bother continuing? Thank god I’m stubborn and didn’t go through with it. I decided I’d figure it out instead. So I became obsessed with psychology and transformation. I got a degree in Cognitive Science, studied classical psychology, and then got weirder…studying NLP, hypnosis, and Positive Psychology (before it even had that name). I got 9 certifications in transformational methodologies, and along the way felt my depression fading away.

I started making friends, going on dates, making things happen in my life! Then, and this is a long story itself, I got involved with a Hindu spiritual cult for 1.5 years, had a kundalini awakening, and connected with my spiritual self for the first time in my life. I realized I was so depressed because I blocked myself off from this part of me. My depression melted away, and I felt reborn. That’s when I launched my company and started earning 6 figures in 6 months. Within 1.5 years I was at multiple 6 figures and after 3 years Yelp named me the #1 Life Coach in LA. That continued for 4 years.

Now I have a loving, supportive, and inspiring soul-family of friends. My dating life is fulfilling, fun, and action-packed. Soul-family clients regularly find me from around the world. And I rarely have to do a thing for any of it to show up.

The thing I realized over everything was how to truly be myself. I discovered why some people can own any room they walk into and make everyone want to be their friend, why some people have the most fulfilling and exciting dating lives, why some people effortlessly close sale after sale…while everyone else struggles in these areas. I discovered what makes people magnetic professionally and personally, and how to unlock that magnetism in anyone. Because we all have it – that irresistibly magnetic energy – we can call in the wealth, love, and happiness we want. We just need to learn how to activate it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Santa Barbara, so we’d spend some time wine tasting at the wineries in the area. We’d drive up and down the coast, enjoying the various beaches. We’d head into LA to see a concert or two and dance the night away (have to see something at the Greek and perhaps the Paladium). I’d take them to the Venice canals, to one of LA’s famous escape rooms, and a few tasting menus (Spago has to be on that list). We’d picnic at Griffith Park, and head to the Broad museum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to shout out Samantha Brown and Abi Levine for being such amazing friends, coaches, and supporters
