We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaeden Kalaqtic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaeden, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Originally I started on YouTube and built an audience that gave me the freedom to be who’ve I always wanted to be. In 2018 I moved to LA from Seattle, WA and hit the ceiling with alan the opportunities within the content creation world. Youtube gave me the confidence to then pursue whatever I put my mind to and eventually fashion fell into my lap. I started out making festival accessories and chose to shoot for the stars and make the accessories designer. I found a style that fit the way I wanted to express myself and went full-force. All my goals in the Youtube world were accomplished so what could stop me in the fashion world?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Entertaining on YouTube is still a huge part of my life that I will never lose roots in. I love to make others laugh and entertain, I remember in school I was always the class clown so Youtube really gave me an outlet to the world. It was definitely tough to find my niche in what topics I wanted to spread but when I did it really helped single me out and grow the brand of myself. If I could grow myself into a brand then why not grow a business as well? The fashion brand Kalaqtic by Kaeden was then founded and has been a long journey ever since 2019. Patience was the biggest virtue I could express as not everything will work out as planned but if you keep your mind set on a goal your brain will mend to make it happen. I would really like people to find confidence within themselves with every art I create. Confidence got me to where I am and believe that’s the first thing you need to create success in your life. Kalaqtic by Kaeden is a physical confidence I like to bring to the world because hearing ted talks or a vocal encouragement may not be the way everyone learns.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has a lot of opportunities and believe you can’t really get bored here. Im a huge fan of a nice meal and spending time with loved ones over food. My mom visited for her Birthday and I took her to some of my fav restaurants like SOHO Warehouse and Castaway Burbank. I also showed them a museum and the Kalaqtic by Kaeden Atelier where they got to meet the team and some close friends. A spa treatment is always necessary & I’m a strong believer that wealth is health so getting hair, nails, and facials were definitely in the itinerary.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I grew up without a father so my two moms, Yolanda and Katie gave me a lot of support growing up. They were so open minded through every step in my career and really allowed me to fuel my own path. My path tends to be different than others especially at age 21 so receiving my parental figures support means a lot to me. I have also had an incredible set of friends the whole way that have been there since the beginning that I love to take care of.
