We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayslee Don Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayslee Don, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
That I have been in this industry for almost 20 years now. I feel like some people think I just appeared one day when I have been doing this since I was a child. I have known what I wanted to do since I was about 7 years old.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? NO! It has not been easy. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I ask myself, “Are you sure you want to still be doing this?” The answer is always yes. I love my work and I couldn’t really see myself doing anything else. There have been many accomplishments that I am very proud of. Releasing my first EP at the end of 2019 has to be one that stands out. I had been in the studio for years trying to pursue my music and I had finally released something for the world that was mine. Although, I am currently recording new music and you’re never truly satisfied. That will forever be a staple in my life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. I would probably just take them to do some things I like to do on my days off.
Local coffee shop – I love a coffee run in the morning. Go for a hike or a walk somewhere outside. ( Silver-lake reservoir or Griffith park observatory ) I would then suggest maybe a park/picnic hang or a trip to the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena.
I would definitely include a long drive to the beach during this trip to Los Angeles
For an activity in the evening, I would hope my friend likes to curl up and watch a movie with me & order takeout. If WE MUST go out…It better be a show.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Parents who dedicated their lives driving back and forth to LA from San Diego all of those years. I was able to start this Journey early. To anyone whos ever made me better. I thank you! xx
