We had the good fortune of connecting with Rejeanne Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rejeanne, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I love this question because it’s an open ended answer for me. I was born in Jamaica, moved to US (Massachusetts) when I was 10 yrs old. I then moved to NYC for college at 18 before coming out to LA in 2018. I am a Jamaican east coast girl. My upbringing has taught me that nothing comes easy and everything takes hard work. We started with not much from being in Jamaica to coming to the US and making small apartments work until we could afford a house. Using what we had and making it work even when it came to food. I used to eat so much sardines, now just the thought of it makes me nauseous. I started my first job at a grocery store at 14 yrs old. This was so that I could take a load off by having my own money for everything I needed. I could go on for days but with that being said, Giving up is not an option for me. Never has and never will be an option. I am a go getter and anyone who knows me can attest to that. What ever I’ve ever wanted in life, I make a plan, stick to it, pray and go after it none stop. God does not put us through things that we cannot overcome. I’ve had many fights, set backs and betrayals in life but none of them stopped me. Pushing through and moving forward is the only direction I choose to keep going. Sometimes I think that I’m too tough and I should let my guard down, but I feel as though the moment I do, someone or something will get me again.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
None of this was easy, and that’s the best part. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s hard looking at others and thinking ( I want to be there). I just always try to remember that my time will come. Everyone has success at different points in life and you have to cheer others on and celebrate them as you work to get to where you want to be. Connections are everything these days. The one thing that is a little disappointing is the fact that so many people(myself included) go to school to obtain a degree for better and only come out with debt. It’ a great accomplishment and I don’t regret it but I would have absolutely done things differently. I try not to force any of my goals and I also try to give myself realistic timelines and due dates. If something does not work out in time, guess what… tomorrow is a new day, new week, new month, new year. I truly believe in God’s timing and patience. I didn’t always have it, but oh have I prayed for it. I’ve been out in LA for 3 yrs and I am loving my journey. I do have times where I beat myself up and tell myself that I could and should be doing more. But I just do what I can and I’ve had some amazing experiences and opportunities so far. The setbacks are the worst, but I always overcome them through prayer and my amazing support system. Talking to people where ever you go really can get you far. Make those connections and talk to a human when you are face to face, as well as sliding into DMs. If you’re going to do it, stay persistent. With that being said, sliding in DMs and talking to people I meet has gotten me opportunities to work with a few celebs, 2 small films, a few modeling opportunities and more. My goal for 2022 is to continue building my portfolio and brand and hopefully find an agent for both modeling and acting. I’ve got so much more work to do and lots to accomplish but I am absolutely proud of where I am now. I want the world to know that I am a face that you will meet/see and you will never forget. I am going to make my mark wherever I go and I want to make positive impacts along the way. My biggest goal in life is being so financially stable that I will always be able to give back and build communities. I truly just want to make the world better and happier, there is too much sadness and pain and it hurts my heart. I love sharing my story in the most authentic way possible. Too many people don’t share enough of what they should. No one is perfect

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, we would hit all the good spots. I like to suggest places I’ve gone to but then I love giving the option to try new spots as well because then we both get to try something new. These are all activities based on the assumption that the weather is about a 80-90 degree week. We would hit the Getty museum, or one of the latest new exhibits in LA. We would have a Santa Monica day. I’m talking, beach, restaurants, shopping the whole nine. We would also have an orange county day. There are so many cool places in OC. Maybe Huntington Beach or Laguna beach. Activities would consist of exploring, drinking, vibing, being silly, taking pictures and videos and eating our faces off. There would also need to be either a Long beach or Santa Barbara day trip as well. I’ve yet to visit either area but have heard great things. Maybe do some water activities or dine by the water. Hiking is a must activity to anyone who visits. It’s great exercise and of course amazing views. I usually offer Runyon Canyon for first time visitors. A rooftop brunch is a must so I’d make reservations for the highlight room. Most of my friends and I are highly over clubbing so that would be out of the question. The last day would be sleeping in making lunch/brunch get ready to head out to one the malibu beaches for a beach late afternoon/sunset vibe. There’s something about watching a beach sunset, it’s so relaxing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I want to dedicate this shoutout to God (without him I’d be nowhere), my Family, my closest friends who push me and cheer me on always. And to the one guy, I don’t remember his name, who motivated me back when I was in NYC to make the move to LA by myself. He told me to never wait on anyone to make a move. I truly have a nice little supportive system who always tell me that they are proud of me, who mention my name in rooms when I am not there and who send me opportunities. Y’all know who you are.
