Meet Hilary Gudgel | Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hilary Gudgel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hilary, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the success of my business is directly related to how much care I put into each step of the process. Starting with sourcing the best ingredients and materials, each and every cookie is baked and decorated with care and a passion for perfection. From my initial meeting with clients to the delivery of their custom treats there are no shortcuts.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Cookies Are Everything was born when I discovered that combining my two favorite things, baking and art, was a match made in cookie heaven. Prior to starting Cookies Are Everything, in 2019, I wrote a lifestyle blog with an emphasis on public art and world travel.
I often tell people that I accidentally started a cookie company, I admit I was a little surprised, though my son says I’m the only one who is. He says it’s completely in character, and I suppose he might be right. Cookies are a nice combination of baking and art, two things I have a great fondness for. Over the years I’ve dabbled in many art mediums including photography and spray paint and I truly believe they all led to this moment.
I am incredibly proud of the success that my little bakery is finding, but it has not come without a lot of hard work. In fact, Starting a small business has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. Persistence and a desire to make it happen were key factors in seeing the process through.
My passion for creating delicious and beautiful treats stems from my love of creating and the joy it brings to others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, this is a tough one because there are so many amazing places to visit in Los Angeles. In fact I’ve written multiple articles on my blog about the best spots in LA. Here are a few favorites: The Wee Chippy on the Venice Boardwalk, Urban Lights at LACMA, sunset at Santa Monica Beach.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize the support and love of my husband, Tim Gudgel, whose unwavering support of all my endeavors over the years has led me to this moment.
