We had the good fortune of connecting with Vee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vee, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was younger I struggled with expressing myself verbally. Then my older brother introduced me to music. I had a semi troubled childhood so with a lot of baggage/things to say. Over time of honing my craft, it just became natural for me to express myself artistically/creatively.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud of growth. Sometimes it can be discouraging when you have high expectations for yourself so i’ve made it a point to just be proud of growing and getting better from one project/song to the next project/song.
I got to where I am today by being consistent and determined. There’s still a long road for me to travel and I have plenty of places to go, but the road here was no cakewalk, we all have things that affect us outside of our career, we all struggle, we are all human and we all have challenges, the only thing you can do is not let the challenges intimidate you into not overcoming them, and I pride myself in knowing that.
I’ve learned a lot of lessons, who to trust, who not to trust, how to be a better person for those around me and those who will be around me in the future. If you’re not in control you’re out of control. If you don’t speak up for yourself someone else will, and life is what you make it, so make the best of it every chance you get.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we looking for something chill maybe Bdubs or Roosters cause those are the go to spots. If we’re feeling a little bourgeois, maybe J Alexanders, Coopers Hawk, Benihana, Cheesecake factory, We might hit up Easton or Polaris to shop, or go downtown by the Scioto River. If we tryna get turnt then we’re probably going to a couple bars on high street or maybe a hookah spot.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
