We had the good fortune of connecting with Esther Susag and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Esther, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
There are so many habits that I have developed over the years that I think contributed to where I am today. I didn’t always have them but a few years ago, I started with small every day habits like making my bed every day, exercising, and taking 5-10 minutes to journal and think about all the things that I am grateful for to start my day off on a positive note. Soon, these habits set me up and encouraged me to go further and try to learn something new or make progress on something every day, whether that was another photography technique or taking the time to content plan for the week. If I could accomplish at least one productive task each day, those small tasks are what ended up accomplishing the major projects that at first seemed daunting and almost impossible. But, at the end of the day, I think the most important habit you can incorporate to your daily routine, is exercising a positive mindset. Taking time to think about where you are and where you want to be is so important in keeping yourself on track. We are all human, and it’s easy for negative thoughts to pop in and out of our heads, but trying to keep those at a minimum and maintaining a positive mindset can make the biggest difference on your path to success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer and content creator and I absolutely love everything about it. I have always been a creative person but never really found the creative path for me. But, that changed when I moved to Guam right after I graduated from university and found that I had a lot of extra free time on my hands. I began researching, googling and practicing everything I could about photography and photo editing. I’ve been traveling and living abroad ever since then and through the years I have just continued to practice through trial and error. I still have so much to learn, but it’s something that I am very passionate about. Then creating content kind of fell right into place with travel photography. Brands started reaching out looking for help with creating more eye catching content for their social media channels and that is where things really started to fall into place!
But, I won’t say that this journey hasn’t been met with many challenges and obstacles. There’s a lot of sacrifices that come with this lifestyle. That’s been a huge adjustment for me, but I also know that I would regret it if I didn’t continue to follow my passions.
If I’m being honest, I think that every artist is unique in their own way and that’s what makes being an artist so amazing. I truly want to just help people and show people that if they are determined enough, you can make anything happen. Just take the risk and go for it!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people in my life that I would absolutely love to give a shout out too but that would take ages to read. Instead, I will absolutely give a shout out to every person that has encouraged me to keep trying and pushing forward despite the unpredictable outcomes that come with this territory. If it wasn’t for them, I probably would’ve given up a long time ago.
