We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Jovone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m born and raised in Chicago, by way of Canton, Mississippi yet I grew up in Harlem, NY. The highlight of my life was spending every summer with my grandmother whom I’m named after. As a small child, she fed me so much wisdom. Filling my heart and soul with all the tools she and my mom knew I would need as an adult today.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I founded House of Juella’s a Modern Beauty and Plant Based Wellness House that inspires your energy through a holistic lifestyle. As a black-owned business, we empower women and men of all multicultural backgrounds through transformative, holistic, and healing experiences.. Bringing high vibrations to everyday life with self-care infused, nourishing products—tools, apparel, and services to elevate the mind, body, and soul.

I’m beyond excited to share with the world one of my greatest joys, It’s all of my favorite goodies that heightens my everyday holistic lifestyle. And will do the same for you.

As a woman who wears many hats, I’ve allowed myself to experience life, career wise, on many levels. Coming from Corporate America, working in Fashion many years ago to also working in TV/Film Production for 20 years as a Makeup Artist winning an Emmy Award and then nominated twice, I’ve definitely paid my dues and enjoyed every experience. However my grandest experience of them all was following my true calling as an healer. Something that was embedded in my as a very young child. Being able to turn all of my dreams into a reality as a solo mom was very challenging yet rewarding. Carrying my faith with me during every journey was a blessing. With a few laughs, giggles and love from my children I knew I had to keep going so that they could know and actually see that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first I would bring them to my Wellness Boutique House of Juella’s to pick up some goodies, take a. drive to self realization center to enjoy the ambiance and amazing scenery. Then we would grab brunch at Malibu Farm and after take a walk on the beach in Malibu.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing children and all the women / moms out there who’s balancing family, career and love while continuing to turn dreams into a reality.
