We had the good fortune of connecting with Bri Seeley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bri, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Every decision we make has risks associated with it. If we decide to not make changes, we risk becoming stagnant. If we decide to make changes, we risk things not working out and/or evolving. I don’t think enough people look at risk through this lens. Most people I speak with only perceive the risks associated with making changes and fail to assess the risks associated with staying the same. I am very pro-risk when it comes to making changes in my life and business. I would much rather risk evolution over stagnation. The risks associated with staying the same are much more terrifying than the risks associated with changing. Because of this understanding, risk has played a massive role in my life from a very young age. I embrace it, which is very evident as I look backwards on my journey of entrepreneurship. One example of this culminated in 2015. I had been operating my fashion label for eight years at that time. While it was going well, it wasn’t living up to my expectations. I came home frustrated every day and found myself experiencing more and more anxiety. Everyday I woke up risking stagnancy because I was too afraid to listen to the risks I needed to make change in my life. Then I was presented the opportunity to do a group meditation at a friend’s house one Saturday afternoon in March. In this meditation I was finally quiet enough to hear my inner guidance clearly – it was time to close my fashion brand and walk away. 72-hours later I embraced the risk of evolution by announcing the closure of my fashion brand. A few short weeks after this my current business was born. Choosing to risk my evolution over my comfort was necessary. I wouldn’t be living the life I’m living, running the business I’m running, serving the entrepreneurs I’m serving, impacting the world of business, etc. if I had failed to embrace the risk of evolution. Had I stayed within the confines of the status quo, played by the rules and operated in the ways expected of me, I wouldn’t be here having this conversation with you right now. The “risky” moves I’ve made in my life and business are the exact same things which have catapulted me closer and closer to my vision.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am an Entrepreneur Coach – I help entrepreneurs build tailor made businesses to monetize their genius. My approach to business building is very different than the majority of the market as it beings with the entrepreneur, then extends into business. Others in my industry not only start with the business, but they use generic “templated” approaches to business building that fail to take into consideration the values, skills and vision of the entrepreneur. What I’ve seen from helping thousand’s to build tailor made businesses from the inside, out is a longer term success rate with more sustainable results…. not to mention more fulfillment and purpose! I’m most proud of being the top ranked entrepreneur coach on Google, being invited to join the Forbes Coaches Council and for thriving into my sixth year of business in a very crowded industry filled with shiny marketing tactics! My 14 year (so far!) entrepreneurial journey has been filled with numerous challenges and opportunities for growth. What I’ve learned is, entrepreneurship is the most intense personal development journey one could ever sign up for. I’ve overcome the challenges of entrepreneurship by evolving myself, eradicating my limiting personal narratives, learning how to surpass my perceived limitations and stretching outside my comfort zone everyday. I discovered very early in my journey that one’s business can never surpass one’s self. In order to grow a business, you must first grow yourself. Because I’m committed to the growth of my business, I had to commit to growing myself. In the last five years, I’ve faced my inner shadows, confronted my deepest fears, redefined my self-image, shattered my identity, grown into my personal power and discovered the woman I was born to be. My days always begin with self reflection, silence and space. It is a practice which has made more of an impact in my life and business than anything else I’ve done. Not only is it a time for me to do the personal growth work I just mentioned, but it’s also a time for me to listen to my intuition so I can take aligned steps forward. I want the world to know is that my story isn’t unique or special. I truly believe every entrepreneur has the opportunity to rise up and bring their unique vision of success to life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Their first day in town would start with brunch on the rooftop at Perch, listening to sounds of jazz as we sip bubbly overlooking the vibrant city. From there we would slip into our hiking shoes and traverse Mt. Hollywood, passing by Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign on our way to the peak. On our way back down into the city, we’d stop at Alcove for a long outdoor lunch, coffee and conversation. By evening, we’d catch the sunset on the rooftop of the Ace Hotel before grabbing dinner at Stocking Frame. Over a course of a week we would also explore the trails of Los Liones and Ernest E. Debs, eat copious amounts of sushi at Sushi Ike, take in a concert at the Greek, visit the Endeavor at the Children’s Museum, paddle board at the Marina and dip our toes in the ocean at The Strand. All, of course, assuming it is post-Covid times!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my summer sabbatical housemate, Nikki Gomez. We leapt into this “workshop” without knowing what it would bring and it has proven to bring both of us so much. I wouldn’t have made it through the summer without your knowledge, wisdom, intuition and insights. You’re such a gift to the world, and especially to me over the last four months. Thank you for being a brilliant, loving soul friend. I’m ever so grateful for our connection and excited for the evolution of each of our journey’s!!!
