We had the good fortune of connecting with Cortni’ Davis-Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cortni’, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Be Open minded!

An open mind leads to new ideas and concepts… new ways to innovate and create. It’s refreshing every now and then to get another opinion or outlook. Whether it resonates with your soul or not, being open is key to allowing the best version of yourself to flow freely.

NEVER stop learning!

Sometimes, we have to step outside of our comfort zone, in order to be the best version of ourselves and genuinely give our ALL to our craft or business. Acquiring new skills should be a never ending curve… not only in business, but in life as well. For every current skill we believe we’ve mastered, there is always someone who has honed in on a new and more innovative concept that can and will trump the “old” way. Who doesn’t love to be on the new cutting edge that may lead to the betterment of their ‘movement?’ Allowing oneself to evolve, keeps you in line with the learning curve, equipping you to better serve your community, clientele and business. We should give ourselves permission to blossom and step into boundaries that we considered off limits.

Stay focused and committed!

Your clients are only as focused and committed as you are!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Jingle Lingo is an all-purpose media and advertising company specializing in jingles for brands, commercials, businesses, companies, radio, voice-overs and demos. Let’s not leave out those special occasion Jingles for that special person or event. While we’d love to one day tap into television and movie soundtracks, our current focus is catering to new and small businesses that may have limited budgets for advertising markets. Our goal is to support and uplift others; getting their brand recognized… while making Jingle Lingo the “Go To” Company. Think about it… we subconsciously take to music and lyrics faster than any other source. Music is an EMOTION – a feeling of nostalgia and is also contagious. Our jingles are catchy and promote “Feel Good Music.”

I’m most proud of the fact that we have been building this company from the ground up – with no funding and I’m definitely excited for our future and what it holds!

After years of dabbling in the music business (i.e., several groups, reality singing competitions and then taking a step back), during the first wave of Covid-19, I felt as though I was sitting on a gift that was Blessed by God and I wasn’t ok with that anymore – I needed to share my gift. But in what capacity? I knew I no longer wanted to pursue being an artist… I wanted to be behind the scenes and I knew I wanted to stick with the craft of writing. Jingle writing utilized all of my talents, it’s fun, brings joy and it just felt right!

It hasn’t been easy, but it has been fun! Music is layered and we’re learning to peel the many facets layer by layer. Music is our passion! We’ve always been ‘a voice’ and I’ve always been a writer, but to tap into and teach myself production, business management, marketing, building a brand, scouting for clientele and being competitive has been quite an experience. It is up to us to make a name, build the brand and create a buzz! When the “pressure” starts to rise, you know you’re on the right path… re-group and come back harder than before!

While there are long days & nights and hiccups here and there, it gives me a new appreciation for entrepreneurs, producers, writers… creatives in general. It takes a lot and definitely is not for the faint at heart – You need to remain grounded in Faith and truly love what you are doing… and I do!

At Jingle Lingo, we don’t view our clients as dollar signs; we see them as family. Family stepping out on Faith and pursuing a passion – same as us! We want to be a critical part in helping them get their brand the recognition and positioning it deserves! We all have the same mission and I see no reason why we can’t build, support and grow together!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d definitely take them to Venice Beach. There’s so much hidden talent, culture, shopping, eateries, etc.! It’s entertaining and refreshing at the same time. Beach strolls while being entertained on different levels, a little shopping, stop for lunch, and libations! It’s a definite Vibe!

Riviera 31 Lounge Bar for some live Jazz, light appetizers and libations. The vibe is always on point, the atmosphere and band are amazing! Great for networking and just meeting like-minded people.

Brunch at The Strand House and dinner at Esperanza in Manhattan Beach. PIPs LaBrea any day of the week (Tuesdays – Sunday) for great vibes, live Jazz, sports, Wine down Wednesday, Cigar nights, etc. Delilah is always another stop… the ambience, food and vibes are always on point!

Hollywood Blvd., is always full of life and entertainment!

Malibu Wine Safari and a drive up PCH are always pleasant.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely have to give a shoutout to my family! They are usually my first set of ears and eyes on projects from beginning to end. It’s important to me to involve them as their opinions mean a lot. They are pretty open and always honest. My dad has a musical background that I value. My mother is a sounding board and always a voice of reason, my Sister is my #1 supporter and my spouse has been instrumental in making sure we have everything we need to flow smoothly and grow to our full potential (from setting up a home office/studio, photography and designing our website).

I also need to give a shoutout to my good friend Lerae Funderburg – an Atlanta based attorney. She is direct, honest and ALWAYS has her clients best interest at heart and is literally a GENIUS! We have gone from friends, to me being her client to her being our client. She never misguides and gives me the real from both a friend standpoint as well as a business standpoint. She is definitely one of the real ones!

Can’t leave out Poly Rob of Local Astronauts. While we have a few producers/engineers we have access to working with, Poly Rob was one of the first we reached out to and he welcomed and supported this vision/company from day one! I actually think he believed in the vision more than we did, lol!
