Meet Priscilla Agyeman | Mental Health Activist & Digital Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Agyeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Princeton, NJ and I’m first generation American. My parents are from Ghana, and I definitely think being the product of two people who had to sacrifice so much to provide for me humbles me and fills me with gratitude. I think immigrants are so incredibly resilient and hopeful, and their strength always inspires me to never give up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work full time in the biotech industry, and I also run Saddie Baddies, which is a virtual sanctuary for Black and multiracial people to destigmatize mental health and initiate collective healing. Juggling both my 9-5 and basically my 5-9 isn’t always easy. I burn out quickly, and I give myself a lot of grace and compassion because I know I don’t always have the time or energy to accomplish everything I want in a day. I’ve been learning to stay present, appreciate whatever I can complete in a day, and most importantly, remember that I need to have a balanced life. I can’t just be all work and no play, so lately I’ve been adding in time for self care and rest. Rest is so important to my creative process, and productivity also includes rest. I want the world to know- especially Black women, that you deserve softness and ease and resources and rest. You don’t have to do it all alone- ask for help when you need to and give yourself the grace you give to others.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shoutout my support system, I wouldn’t be here without them. From my loving partner to my family and friends and community, they uplift me and remind me of my power. I’m eternally grateful for them.
