Meet Cecilia Partida | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecilia Partida and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cecilia, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I had my second child I started to experience postpartum depression. When I would bring out my camera I realized how much it helped me mentally. I enjoyed it and just brought me back to life. Being able to photograph families and knowing that these memories would last forever made me so happy. I love candid shots and my clients love that my photography showcases that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What keeps me busy is my openness to new ventures. I recently began to photograph brands and quickly learned I love to do those kinds of sessions too. Also I am always finding new ways to be creative. I reach out to family or friends to make those visions come to life.
My journey has not been easy because when I first started my Photography journey I was a mom of 2 and had recently quit my job to be a stay at home mom. I was either pregnant or nursing while trying to pursue my love in photography. I worked so hard because when I was out photographing families it brought so much joy and I didn’t want it to stop. So I didn’t stop I did take breaks when I felt overwhelmed but I refused to put my camera down. I would watch YouTube videos while nursing or while baby would nap but I never stopped. Now I am a mom of 3 and my children are getting to see their mom pursue her dreams while owning her own business. They even get to join me at my sessions at times.
One thing I would want the world to know is that its ok to ask for help. Everything takes time. Some people are able to pursue their dreams faster than others and that is ok. What’s important is our persistence. And mistakes are inevitable but just continue to work hard to be better than yesterday.
My brand is here to capture those memories that you will be able to pass on to generations. And that makes me extremely happy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably suggest to be at Disneyland all week. But that wouldn’t be fair. I am a child at heart. But if my best friend would be visiting it would probably be La Jolla cove. Walking at the beach, stopping at all the thrift shops, hiking any trails we find. Coffee dates at any cute spots are a must.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband. He’s the reason I have been able to pursue my passion. He did all the research on my gear when I decided to make my business official and he also funded all my gear.
