Meet Lindsay Beth Cahill | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Beth Cahill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay Beth, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In my opinion, this is one of the scariest questions I’ve faced as an actor. My mom used to give me an exercise when I was growing up whenever there was a big decision that I was struggling with. She would say to me “Okay Lindsay, when you wake up tomorrow I want you to go about your day as if you have chosen the first option and the next day when you wake up think about making the opposite choice.” After the second day, I always knew what I wanted. As a young actor, there are often days when I feel down because I’m not exactly where I want to be or I feel like I’m focusing way too much of my time on things that are not advancing my craft. The decision to keep going is not always easy but the one thing I do know is that the days when I wake up as if I’ve made the decision to give up acting are the darkest days. As a creative person, we often tie our self-worth to our success. It’s important to remember that you are not your career and you will still be a good person even if you are not doing everything exactly right. It’s natural to discover new things about yourself and change your path and it will never be considered “giving up.” There are times when I don’t feel like an actor or like I’m my only supporter but if what you do excites you then you must be going in a good direction. Any day that I get to wake up and work on my craft, be on set or do an audition is a good day in my book because acting fuels my fire. I think the day I wake up and acting no longer brings me joy is the day I move on.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve had a passion for the arts as long as I can remember. When I was 6 years old my greatest dream in life was to be a drummer in a heavy metal band. Although, that plan never exactly panned out, my love for the arts never did die down. I realized pretty young in life that I never felt more at home then when I was expressing myself creatively. I discovered acting in 6th grade when I went to see my high school’s production of Footloose. From that moment on I counted down the days until I would be old enough to audition. Although, I did beg the drama teacher a couple of times to let me be a rock in the next production if they would just let me be on stage. After High School, I attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy for acting in NYC which eventually lead me to Los Angeles. I worked with several wonderful teachers who taught me so much about discipline, technique and hard work. In school, they had us put together a five-year plan to get us prepared for entering the professional world. I’m sure that graduating college into a global pandemic was not included in any of our plans. It was slow going at first but in the last two years I got to work on some amazing projects. Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to work on the set of The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV and the set of As We See It on Amazon Prime. It felt like such an honor to work with two of my idols Will Farrell and Paul Rudd on The Shrink Next Door and do a costar on As We See It. If I could give anyone advice it would be that if you find something that you love, put your whole heart into it. Things might not always go exactly as you planned but if you surround yourself with like-minded people they will motivate and encourage you. I’m immensely proud of the leaps and bounds I’ve made. I know that I will be successful in my endeavors because I will always have my mind, my heart and my drive.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my all-time favorite things to do in LA is to hike. I would say a must is the Fryman Canyon hike in Studio City and the Wisdom Tree hike. Both are amazing for hiking with friends or just going to clear your head. Taking a nice cruise on Mulholland Drive is wonderful especially if you want to park your car at one of the look outs and watch the sunset, or the sunrise if you’re an early bird. And whenever my friends or family come to town one of the first places I take them is It’s Pho in North Hollywood. I think I could eat their Pho Ga and drink their Thai tea with Boba every day of my life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother Laura. I’ve never been afraid to jump because whenever I turn my head my mom is right there to tell me that no matter where I land she’ll support me. I aspire every day to be as strong as her. I couldn’t imagine where I’d be without her endless love and support.
