We had the good fortune of connecting with Sole Bovelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sole, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is something that it crucial for me and for any artist really honestly. I think taking risks can be some of the most terrifying yet empowering experiences in life. Being afraid is inevitable and human. It’s what we do in spite of fear that really defines us. I sometimes get the opportunity to tell a story that scares me. Earlier in my life when I first began acting I had a habit of favoring characters that felt comfortable and familiar to me. Now I run towards what really scares me because I love any challenge that will help me grow. My mentor actually taught me to never run from this but to run towards this. So here and there I get moments of resistance that I’ve been training myself to break out of over the years. And I have the same perspective on life too. I think it’s so important to throw yourself out into the world and always push beyond your limits. In the moment it’s always confusing and difficult, but I’ve always seemed to thank myself later for it. Nothing good comes easy. I try to just remind myself of this whenever theres a story or moment in my life that I need to fight for.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a sucker for a good view. I love sharing a beautiful look out spot with someone I care about. I think giving someone a moment or memory is one of the best feelings in the world. I would probably go at the top of a lookout spot in Los Angeles with blankets, snacks, and drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to begin by shouting out The Imagined Life studios. This is the acting studio I’ve been studying at for a little over a year. I can’t even begin to express how much it has changed my work and life. Being a part has helped me connect to what really matters to me and to want to say to the world. Some of my all time favorite books that I consistently pick up are Letters to a Young Poet (Rainer Maria Rilke), The Courage to Create (Rollo May), and The Mystic in the Theatre: Eleonora Duse (Eva Le Gallienne)
